Hard top hoist with 2 contact points (pics)

Was wondering if just clipping 2 flat hooks on would be sufficient to hoist the hard top (4 door) so threw a strap over a beam on my patio and lifted the hard top up.
Seems like it would work fine long term.
My thought is to use 2 24”-30” straps with a flat hook on one end and a ring on the other end. Then simply connect the rings to a manual or electric hoist.
Thoughts?

I Don't see why it wouldn't work. Though I would not store it that way. I would have concerns about the top flexing and taking a set. It might be rigid enough so this is not a concern. I don't really know as I'm still waiting on mine.

Seems like there is extra material on the point where I hooked .
But may just use it to get it lifted then throw some extra straps on for longer term storage.

Waiting on straps to get here to start that part of it.
Plan is to use 2 flat hooks with straps to get it hoisted then will add some safety straps to ceiling once it’s lifted for peace of mind.

Got the flat straps in today and system works great.
Hooking on towards the front of the back rail is almost perfectly balanced .
I put some felt under the flat hooks for piece of mind.
Now to just add some hooks on the ceiling with some tie downs or something as a fail safe for when hung from the ceiling .

How the heck did you find those? looks like those straps were made for this job.

I found a company that custom makes straps and tie downs. The one in the pic was part of a Y harness they sell and I just used part of it.
I also had them make me 2 straps that are 30” long with a flat hook on one end and a 2” ring on the other.
But the 2 rings wouldn’t quite fit on the hook on my winch so I didn’t use them.
They will make whatever size and config you want.
Think I’m going to have them make me one more config shortening the straps to 24” so I can get the top a little higher, joined together with the 2” ring at one end and 2” flat hooks on each of the other ends.

Put some hooks in the joists and put a couple tie downs around for peace of mind .
My other car fits right under it!

This is excellent. Thanks for posting. How long are the straps pictured from the Y strap kit (the ones in the photo)? If they are around 2 feet long on either end, could another set of 3 footers for the front slot be used allowing you to throw the middle rood piece on top. I am thinking the longer front straps may help keep the balance.

For those concerned about hanging by the slots, My Lange Original lift uses them, and I store the panels on top. No issues so far!

I like it for lifting but not for storing. These things are cracking while installed on the Bronco. I can't imagine that storing it like this long term will be good.
