Getting the coil spring rate correct for your use case is key. This controls frequency response, ride height, shock equilibrium location. Get some real numbers for your “as built” weight and choose carefully. This is one of the major advantages acutune provides. You can dial in your spring rate.

dampers can then be easily tuned to your use case and ride tolerance levels.

Getting the dual sport tuned Ride Shocks installed today.
Explain this to me like I believe zero offset wheels is a performance gain

Think on it a while. I am sure you will understand eventually. But don’t force it. Try and take some thinking breaks every few minutes. Don’t want you to hurt yourself.

Let's say you are on the edge basical
The tuning we have done for the shocks is based on the following parameters:
  • Weight of the vehicle (Front separately from the Rear)
  • Style of suspension (Independent Suspension, versus Live (Solid Axle)
  • Spring Rate (Different springs required for vehicles of different weights and suspension style mentioned above)
  • Finally, Preferred Ride Quality
We do NOT consider the Driver, or Passengers in the weight bands. We are only considering Permanent Modifications to the vehicle.

The best way to select the Weight Range, is to either:
  1. Get Scaled Weights for the Front and Rear of your Bronco, using CAT Scales, or 2 tires at a time on a standard Dump Scale
  2. Add up the weight of your permanently attached accessories, and have a separate list of your occasional weights.
Based on your driving style and trails I would highly recommend staying with our standard Adventure Tuning in side the shocks, but if you ever decided to go a little faster, or aggressively, we can also do our Dual Sport Tune which sacrifices on-road comfort for Off-Road Performance!

This is sage advice!
So if you don't account for drivers am I to assume you don't account for gear either, is it only permanent mods or is gear considered part of oermanent? If that is the case it may be range 1 for me not range 2. Also let's say for the sake of argument if you are right an the boarder of the upper end of range 1 and lower end of range 2 400lb in the front and 650 lb in the rear, in this case what do you guys suggest, range 1 or range 2?

Bro…I’m not a sportsball guy. But if I’m understanding your explanation correctly…you play football with your feet and baseball with your base so… @popo_patty will be installing shocks that…use your feet and base at the same time?

Dual-Sport comes from the Motorcycle world.

Dual-Sport Bikes CAN be used on the freeway for hours, but it is no where near as comfortable as a Goldwing or a Harley Road King with full fairings and a La-z-boy for a seat.

If I have to fist fight you to remove that gear from the vehicle, I would consider it permanent, but if that gear lives in your garage during the week, that is not permanent.

If you are on the edge of a weight band, consider this. If you go on the low side, it will ride LOWER and only sit lower as you add weight. If you go on the higher end, it will start at a taller lift height, and may ride raked until you add more weight.

That is the magic of having choices!

wtf @87-Z28 why did you have to confuse me with sports references? This makes much more sense. Patty is getting a motorcycle.

To tell you the truth man I kike the look of a taller lift height for sure, I like a good amount of the fender to tire gap but of course I won't go there just because I like it I want to make the correct decision. My problem is I don't know how the rig will change in the future so if it goes heavier I may regret the other range 1 option.

dual sport means to me that I can have my cake and eat it too! I love cake.
Ummmm I could get int shaft references too… like my King shaft is a bit leaky these days and the Ride shocks shaft is strong and has good tensile strength

@AccuTune Offroad what shaft size and hardness are you running again? I don’t recall.

7/8" Shafts with 55HRc

Diameter of shaft will not corelate with the strength of a shock, but with how much oil is displaced during compression. So a Larger Shaft makes for a softer shock. The Hardness is to help reflect rock damage, and make the shafts last longer at their OD against chafing wear.
