I can attest that the MetalTech 4x4 sliders are beefy. Dropped the weight of the Bronco on them and only a scuff. I got the Sidewinders.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for.

Any White Knuckle folks out there? I've used them on another much heavier application with great success, but they seem to be absent in mention on this forum.
Well kinda disappointed at White Knuckle.
I called and emailed and got no response over a couple of days.

You have any contacts that may net a better result?

That is disappointing to hear. Maybe that is why there isn't much talk about them in threads on this board. I have beat the hell out of the ones on my Power Wagon over the years.

I'm on the fence as I'm not sure I want to go down the build route with this Bronco. I've already got two fully built serious SFA, locked off-road trucks.

Update:

After 8 weeks of no contact, I was called by MetalTech to let me know that they couldn't honor their own pricing and wanted an additional $300 for shipping.

They did not care about me making an updated post here because they're going to stop producing these sliders anyways.

Chris, I am disappointed we, Metal-tech 4x4, could not make this right the way you wanted. My call today was in response to your Dec. 29th email asking for a call.
  • I did not ask for an additional $300 for shipping.
Your order did not include the flat $199 shipping rate we offer for all sliders. This usualy means in-store pickup, local pickup, or pickup for those traveling through the area. With "free shipping" on real frame-mounted sliders, we can't do that. The cost to produce them is $698, and LTL shipping is $307, for a total of $1,005.00. With your order at $899.95, there is no way to include shipping. I shared that the only option we can offer is a 100% refund. You then elected for that.

The set of sliders currently being completed for your order would have triggered an email in a few days indicating that the sliders are avalible for in-store pickup or for a 100% refund. We will almost always eat any significant differences, but that assumes there is enough purchase volume to at least break even. When that's not an option, the only option is to issue a 100% refund, then analyze the issue and ensure it does not recur.

We do, of course, care for the experiences our customers have and the need for them to share those experiences. As for continuing to make Bronco 6G sliders, our current production costs and materials make them unprofitable to offer. We don't wish to compromise on how we build any parts we make since we actualy wheel and use what we create. I would rather discontinue offering a product vrs. Make one I would not want on my own Bronco. It's not a bad thing; it's just the market, and we get it 100%.

I wish you well with your 2D Build and hope to meet you in person on the trail one of these days.

If you had verified the order when it came in, we could have solved the problem in October.

Wasting 2 months of my time before asking for more money or cancelling the order isn't how a company I would recommend operates.

I agree 100%. When your order came in, it should have been confirmed immediately as either local pickup or canceled. That didn’t happen, and that's on us.

I wish we could build sliders the way we do and still offer free shipping at the $899 price point. Unfortunately, with current production costs and LTL slider freight averaging around $350 to a residential address with a lift gate, “free shipping” must be built into the retail price. At that point, there isn’t enough margin left to build true frame-mounted sliders to the standard we require.

We pay living wages and provide full benefits to the people who build our parts, and that means our products won’t be priced for everyone — and we understand that.

Internally, we prioritize quality, performance, and price, in that order. If we can’t make something to the standard we’d run on our own vehicles, we don’t make it at all.

Best of luck with your 2-door build, and hopefully we’ll see it out on the trails. We need more 6Gs getting dirty to help keep access open.

I see your all your rails for the Bronco are discounted right now. Are you getting out of the business of manufacturing rock rails for the Bronco, or is it just a sale?

Also skids for front LCA are on my list - you don't make those do you? (I could not find them on your site but I found nagivating your site confusing...not sure I put in the right vehicle...)

The discounted pricing on the Bronco sliders is the promotion we have been running on them for the last few months. At the end of January, we will increase prices by about 5%. We hope to continue to see our B6G products sell; however, since they will be about $200 than other frame-mounted sliders, they may slow to the point we discontinue them. Time will tell on that.

Lower front control arm skids and full skid plate system:
We never released the skids we had developed and repeatedly tested. Our skid plate kits, once proven, were going to be quite a bit more expensive than those from competing brands. Since we would have had to make at least 20 sets to offer them, we chose not to. There are already some great options on the market.
