I’m brand new to this and not sure what this rusted piece is, if it’s even necessary, and if I can remove it/swap it out myself. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I did - hopefully this isn’t an issue! Is it something I can just remove?

Aftermarket pinch weld cover. Yes, you can remove.

As @Beach_Bum mentioned, pull them off - they’re not OEM. If you don’t like the look of them off, you can buy new ones or just bedliner spray the area instead. Or if you’re installing rock sliders/rails, you wont see them as much anyways.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the responses on this. This is great advice and I’ll definitely remove them right away. I hope when I get them off there aren’t any rust issues underneath!

I'm thinking you or whoever owned before you drove on rock or sand roads...just a thought...Iwould take those off and paint them with epoxy paint and then install "RockBlokz" mud flaps right away...
