S&B Intake vs. Stock

Hey guys, I put together a complete video comparing the stock intake to the S&B cold air intake. Compare sound clips at stagnant revs, pulls and a dig. Overall I’m happy with it, but think I would have preferred even more noise. Anyone on the fence, check it out and let me know what you think

Both similar. They are both completely closed intake systems if you choose to put the S&B lid on so doesn’t fluctuate much.

oh, you mentioned that it was a cold air intake. This is just an open box wit a gauze filter for intake sound.

Less restrictive intake setup giving better throttle response, with many documented cases of this intake increasing power. I just make the videos for people to see, compare for themselves and take what they want from it. I’m not paid by S&B or anyone else. Just doing honest reviews to help people determine if it is something they would be interested in for themselves.

Nice video. I put an S&B CAI on our F-150 Raptor and have been really happy with it. Right now we're using the oiled filter. I have seen some reviews for the Braptor that install was tough and/or S&B sent improper parts. Did you have any of these issues? The F-150 kit was a breeze but I'm sure they have tons of experience and feedback in that area. I'm hopeful that the Braptor kits have improved with time and feedback because I'd like to put one on mine too.

I saw your comment on YouTube and replied back. I do have the ford tune and install was a little tricky and missing parts. Have videos of both the install and the ford pro cal on my YouTube channel!

I once gained 16hp with one, but that was with mass air meter tuning . Usually they are worth a couple points non tuned, but it kinda mute vs cost and you're not going to feel it. There is also the issue of MAF vs MAP which the bronco runs. It would net a whole lot more changing out the OEM intercooler which impacts IATs more.

If it's "all over the Internet" it just must be true .

I'm trying to simply keep it honest and truthful and maybe provide a learning opportunity. Hence the tone here.

Are aware that dynos are notoriously difficult to get truly repeatable, and thus accurate measurements from? You can't see +5 hp - it's in the noise!

Furthermore, the more relevant dyno you posted is pretty clearly from a modified Raptor. In such cases an air filter & box can offer some modest gains. The issue is that stock, most performance oriented rigs are very well optimized from the factory as far as intakes go. This wasn't nearly as true 20-30 years ago.

I will buy the claim when I see a very carefully set up dyno session, on a stock Raptor, on the same day, with +10 hp. Regardless, you aren't going to feel such.

Nice video! Appreciate you doing the comparison with the stock airbox vs. S&B intake. For anyone still deciding: remember that the S&B keeps the intake enclosed, making it a quieter intake option, while still improving airflow significantly over stock.
