Hello Everyone,

First time posting here.

I have been looking at the Bronco's for a little while now.

I went in to test drive one this past weekend. A 2.3l Auto with the Sasquatch Package.

I actually wanted to test drive the manual but they didn't have one at the moment but will soon, so hopefully can check that out also.

I currently drive a 2018 Subaru Forester XT which has some juice off the line.

Testing the 2.3l was definitely a different experience and felt a little sluggish but that was my first time, so makes sense.

I know I can't compare it to the Subie. I really want to see how the manual feels.

If I go for a Bronco, it would probably be a Big Bend with the 2.3l and manual trans with the Sasquatch package.

I'm know I won't be off-roading all that much but would like to take it a few places for sure.

I do have one question, the Ford Approved Tune, does that make a noticeable difference?

I also came across products that supposedly help with acceleration such as Pedal Commander.

Would a tune and a pedal commander make a difference in your opinion for a manual trans Bronco?

Appreciate the feedback.

Thanks

Jay

Don't ask me any technical questions but I went from a black diamond with a manual to a black diamond sasquatch with manual and I hear the turbo way less now on hills. Getting up to speed way smoother feel. Manual Sasquatch is the way to go to feel a little less like a 6000lb brick.

Thanks for the quick replies.

When I did the test drive, I did slip it into Sport Mode briefly and yea, it did feel just slightly livlier.

Of course, with the Sasquatch package, I can't and do not expect it to be as peppy as my Forester.

I understand that the Bronco is a way heavier vehicle with off-road tires and it's not a street machine.

But you can only get so much feedback from a short test drive.

I might have to rent one through Drive Share or something to really get a feel for it.

If you want it to have more pep get the v6 which only comes with the automatic.

93 octane gas will help both engines make more power.

I had both the 4cyl manual and v6 auto, the 4cyl manual was more engaging to me but the v6 has way more torque. The 4cyl was a 2 dr and v6 was a 4dr.

Ford Performance tune with 91-93 makes a big difference. I did that in my 2.3 before I got a 2.7 and it was much better after the tune. There is a thread on the forum for the 2.3 Tune feedback if you search it up. Lots of folks like it in the 7 speed too for rev limiting and such.

Definitely try it in sport mode. Whenever I switch out of sport (only on super long road trips), it feels a bit more dead.
