I’m looking to add a hitch to my 2024 Black Diamond

It looks like it’s pre-wired; there’s what looks like a connector protected inside a sheet metal bracket that held in by bolts far longer than they need to be for the job.

Anyway, do I need to buy a bracket with a receptacle for the trailer connector which I assume the pre-wired connector plugs in to? Assuming so, can someone help by telling me what that part is called and maybe where to get it?

Thanks for any help.

I could be wrong but I believe you also need programming from the dealership with FRDS after install as well, no?

That’s a bummer because of the cost, but saved me from possibly getting into a pickle. Thanks.
If you are going to be towing a trailer with brakes you will also need to install the in cab trailer brake controller. Also a Ford part number made by Redarc. It's all plug and play except for the mounting of the controller knob. Even if you order the tow package, you don't get the brake controller, which is a poor decision on Fords part. The whole tow package issue was poorly thought out.

No need for any programming if you are just going to use a 4-pin setup if you don't mind the backup alert. Total cost was $140 to add a Curt hitch & plug-n-play module for my '24

I just need the trailer hitch receptacle to carry a bike rack. I was told buying and having one installed at U-Haul was a good option. Any thoughts?

It's pretty easy to do yourself. I bought a Curt hitch for less than $100 on Amazon, watched a YouTube video on removing the rear bumper and did the whole thing in under an hour. No need to do anything with wiring if you're just going to install the hitch to hold a bike rack.

Yeah, hardest part is removing the 2 long bolts. I guess I should've just removed the bumper, but I cut em off with a grinding wheel.

They do it everyday, so prob your best option if you're not gonna do it yourself. Maybe they will allow you to give them the hitch to install so you don't pay a markup on it. Here is the one that most say is the best aftermarket one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B9NPWBQH?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_7

Now I’m a little confused- I thought you needed the module that goes inside to get power to the plug that’s in the bumper.

Not if he's just needing the receiver for a bike mount & never plans on pulling a trailer
