I was wondering what everyone is having for their transmission temps with normal driving i.e., highway speeds and around town driving. My 24" OB averages between 180, no load and up to 195-198 under load or around 70-75 mph. I have the 2.7.
TIA
Since I have the auto tranny, I have the gauge and always have the gauge array up on the dash, battery, oil temp, tranny temp all included.

Keep in mind this is a modern 10 speed with very modern trans fluid.

My driving around temp hovers around 180 to 185. Off-roading is when it gets interesting. I come from a not so distant era with 5-6 speed autos where 220 is cooking the trans fluid and needs to be changed after to be honest.

I average 210 off-road and last Summer in the GA Mountains saw 225! I could smell it a bit and got worried, so I stopped the group for 10 mins to cool it off and back down to around 200, then put in manual mode the remainder of the day. Came home and did some research; found that 220 isn’t cooking these days, but above 250 is. Never thought a non-racing tranny could handle that high a temp, but they can.

That said, I would still not just keep rolling in the mud.ruts GOAT mode at 220 for very long, as the tranny is hunting for gears. When I shift into manual mode, for starters, it’s more fun, but it also brings temps down. This is driving under 30mph and in 4H or 4L and alway with traction control off when off-roading. Not sure that’s a rule, but keeps from getting stuck, but I’ve got front and rear lockers as well.
