I’ve done the whole thing. Base bronco with no lockers is plenty. It’s more of an adventure than an exercise in technical off-roading.
Even the passes through Colorado? I think those are the areas I'm most concerned about. May want to pick your brain on it at some point.

Yeah, they will be no issue. Black dragon wash may be a little tricky only because there isn’t a real clear trail. (At least 7 years ago). I did it the same time as the stock lr4s in the Jay Leno’s garage video. People kept asking if we had seen them but we never did. If they can do it, the bronco can do it.

I’ve done from CO to Oregon coast. Bronco will handle it fine. Provided it can fit. Some of the roads are more like singletrack but it’s easy to bypass.

I drove the TAT from Boston to Vegas and back to include Imogene pass. I did it with a 2006 H3 Hummer Adventure series.....
Most capable 4x4s could do it. However rear lockers did help me out of the mud a few times

My brother and I are considering attempting NM to Oregon, or possibly all the way from the OBX of North Carolina with my two boys, the four of us in my SAS OBX and he in his Rivian, if he can get it on time, in the summer of 2023. Rivian recently did it to prove the concept of an electric off-road vehicle making it across, and laid out charging locations to make it possible.

I’ll update here, or make my own thread, if it comes closer to a reality.

I've been planning it on a bike, my goal is '24. I'm looking at 30 days one way from VA and then whatever it takes to get home. I'm sure it would take significantly longer in a 4x4. The trails will all be doable in a Bronco, can be lots of mud from my understanding in certain areas but there's always bypasses around tough stuff.

Take a couple of months and go for it!! Report back!
