I've never owned or inspected a tube door. What should this be made of, if the aluminum housing cracks that easily?

Hand built one-off set... made before testing and tolerance engineering.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

Ford said it will be made from aluminum. It is a factory part so it will be covered under warranty

As I recall that was asked at the event and the Ford rep said it was plastic in the prototype but would be metal in the final version.

Looking at the door from an engineering perspective, the cracked "Cover" may be a non-structural member. Depending on the construction under the cover, the tubes maybe welded together to carry the load. These doors were supposed be to crash tested so most likely the cracked "Cover" is not a safety issues but a cosmetic issue that would be covered under warranty. However, this maybe an early design that gets improved before production.

That's a pre-production plastic piece .

People need to chill until they start actual production vehicles coming down the line ,LOL .

That piece is probably plastic since it's just a cover for the handle. Don't quote me but it looks more of a plastic crack than metal or aluminum. It probably got banged around during transport.

I recall the same. I expect the production version that hits your driveway will be good to go.
