Hey Doc, they are mounted to the outer side of the pinch welds using the 3M that comes pre-installed and behind the factory rock-sliders. if you don't have room for that due to aftermarket sliders you can use the frame rails.
Appreciate the follow up and good points.

What is your opinion of the silicone cover durability? A scrape is a scrape, so that doesn't count. But sand, pebbles/stones, and other road debris will take its toll. Soft enough not to dent, but firm enough not to absorb? On my Expedition I had an indicator that had to be cleaned as often as my wheels.

Some readers might think these lights are "showy" or "young punk" hokey, but for freeway drivers and street/mall drivers, where people do not pay attention, it could be a body saver, both your Bronco or another person.

The automotive industry favors appearance and performance features over safety features, particularly those outside the vehicle. Notice the 7 year (and pending) adoption of pedestrian sensors, but "auto drive" is the big feature race.

Our buying activity influences design engineers vis-a-vis market analysts, and soon to be AI. We need to encourage them to think of the envelope the vehicle travels in, not just the road surface and air stream.

That's my 2 cents. Wait, we don't make those anymore. That's my nickel (copyrighted phrase).:giggle:

I haven’t used these specifically before, but I have used OPT7 for underglow applications on multiple vehicles( I grew up in that era) and they have always held up well. Of course there may be the stray rock that could hit it but they tend to remain tough. I like the added benefit of being seen, and if down the road I have to replace one, due to how it’s damaged, I’ll reassess their location. As far as cleaning, I’ve maybe wiped down the underglow once or twice ever.
