So I stopped by my dealership to sign a price agreement (thanks to the recommendation I received here), and — Lo and behold — I have been assigned a VIN today!

I’m ecstatic.

but …

The build that is in the system is velocity blue. I changed it to white a month ago, but they somehow never updated that. And somehow I signed a paper that said velocity blue. (Small print and didn’t notice it)

Is it too late to change this to white?

Sales rep thought so.

But oddly, on his official inventory/status screen, he was able to change it on a drop down menu. Then he refreshed the page and waited a few minutes, and it stuck. But he doesn’t have confidence that it will really be official.

Does anyone here know? Forgive me if I’m sparse on details — I’m happy to elaborate if needed.
Keep the velocity blue, white is boring!

What color does the order tracker show or list under the exterior section?
Oxford white!

so apparently this is confirmation that you can indeed change color, at least in some limited window after VIN assignment

Lol this just got awkward …

I plan to get decals and/or my company logo on it. The blue is sick, for sure, but I worry about how it will age as I’ll have this car for a long time

The WBDO (fords order system) allows the color change after getting a VIN assigned. If the dealer submits it and it changed on the DORA it should stick and change. Have them check it a day or 2 after the change and make sure it still has it as white. You should be fine.

Definitely white if you're putting company logos on it!

If it's a color the color becomes part of the branding and if you're branding doesn't use exaclty velocity blue then it wouldn't be consistent and that's not a good thing.

I'm not putting logos on mine.

I considered white for logo but decided to keep my bronco just mine! :)

No, in Ford's VIN there is nothing in there to indicate Color. You're thinking of Jeep. You can change the color of your Bronco. But you have a very small window depending how close you are to your build date.
Good to know. A buddy just ordered a part for his Tacoma and was told the part was color-matched based on the VIN, so evidently Toyota does as well.

I have a production date of 2/14 with a VIN. I reached out to my dealer and asked if they could change the color. They were locked out from making changes. Maybe changes can only be made up to a certain point?

The dealer is trying to figure it out with me. So I’m going to call again tomorrow and he’s going to see if that drop down option is still there.

I’ll report back here. I know I’ve been given a “build week” but not a specific day yet, so I wonder if that’s the window.

Called the dealer -- the drop-down was still there this morning.

So the window for changing the color is at least a day or two after getting a VIN. Just FYI.

A follow-up question here:

When my VIN was assigned, the dealer had the inventory/ordering screen that showed my build week of 2/28. This is the same system that had the drop-down that allowed me to change color.

However the VIN/Order # - based Ford Tracker still doesn’t show a build week at all.

Also there’s no window sticker yet.

Is that all normal?

if I want updates on this, do I have to keep contacting the dealer?

thanks

Window sticker wont show until right before the build date. Like a week or so.

Still wondering about this part to anyone who can help:

The Ford VIN-based order tracker still doesn’t show a build week at all. But the dealer had an inventory system that showed “week of 2/28.”

if I want updates on this, do I have to keep contacting the dealer?

I’ve never gotten any emails from Ford on this, aside from the one in December that acknowledged my order.
