If Ford really has over 160k+ reservations, money/build orders will talk.

So what sense does that make for a Dealer? Wait for someone to get money together over 90 days or take money from someone willing to pay now? Just curious how that thinking goes from a business perspective.
@MesquiteTim here is what will happen..

Ford will not start the process of assigning VIN's until they are ready to start the builds...

Ford has no idea of how much a person has/has not put down on the order...

Ford only wants the orders in the WBDO so that they can begin the process...

Ford will not be processing the orders when they arrive in the system...

The Bronco Sport is still being processed no vin's assigned by Ford and we have been entering them since the 14th of July...

EDIT

Bronco Sport number of real orders vs reservations 60% BTW..

That didn't answer any of the business aspect what sense does it make (across the board) to not take money from people willing to pay and have it to pay? And didn't someone shoot down the "Bronco Sport" as a comparison theory? Probably just more people having faith in a 'reservation' system than I do :)

Bronco Sport was the first bite of this apple...

If you are in the car business you would understand it...

The car business is not like Walmart or the fast food market...

What do you care about weeding out actual buyers?? How does that affect your purchase?? Ford will make them and dealers will sell them. To people on the reserve list or not. Zero reason any dealer should be asking for any deposit to order. It's not like they are going to get stuck with inventory they can't sell. If the person who orders backs out there will be 10 potential buyers waiting to pounce.

Pretty much what u said, but u left out the purging of unused reservations. At some point everybody who's getting on the train is on and its gotta leave the station. Anybody left can catch the next one if they want i guess

Ford will most likely not assign reservation vin's to vehicles until they get ready for production some time in March...

So you will have a large time window to place the order and retain your spot in line...

I base this on what I am seeing with the Bronco Sport...
Is it going smoothly with the B-S, so to speak, @Granger Ford ? Are the customers and your coworkers getting a handle on the process? Or is it a big learning curve?

Our customers have a better handle on it thanks to this Forum, Jaime on the phones and myself...

I am unsure of where the sales staff falls in other than delivery of the Bronco and they will be up to speed at that time..

You realize they likely have a reasonable idea based on the trim chosen in reservation.

I also imagine that, through the years, Ford has an idea of what people want and order.

They also aren't building just the reserved Broncos and stopping. Anything leftover will be used up on the next batch.

Why wouldn't a tiny dealer take orders without contract? They'll sell anything that no one claims. If they can't... Dealer trades are a thing and I'm sure other dealers will want them.
