I was underneath today just checking around when I noticed what looks like scuff marks or damage from a jack underneath the body. They are right by the rear bumper.

Not sure if thats bare metal or what. Never noticed before but then again I don’t think I ever looked in that area.

I bought this baby brand new so I am just wondering if anyone else has this? Is this a factory error? Normal? Did a dealership do something stupid for service?
Should I spray something on there? Warranty? Cry to my mommy?

Helpful input is appreciated, Thanks!

Mine looks exactly the same, including the scuffs. Probably how they handle the tub from the factory or something

I hit any bare metal thats under the truck with sand paper then either paint or a spritz of the bed liner. Might not do anything but it makes me feel better. Thats just me. Also thats probably aluminum so it wont rush. But could oxidize. Hopefully ot gives you peace of mind to know you arent the only one with that spot on your truck.

Huh. This is mine. The grey kinda looks like unpainted primer. Like something was clamped there during painting.

Interesting…… thanks for checking everyone!
It does give me some peace of mind knowing that the dealer didn’t do it.
I was ready for the glass shatter stone cold steve austin theme to play and enter the dealer and start giving everyone a stunner lol…..figuratively, of course.

I don’t think it’s aluminum because I put a magnet on it and it stuck. But what do I know.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into covering it up just in case.

Tooling/nesting witness mark, guaranteed. The fact that it's on a 2-way locator is a dead giveaway.

It's either post-painting drag-chain/pallet tooling OR possibly build-up if it's on paint booth locators. Masking wouldn't look like something bit into the paint.

It’s under your car. Why does it matter?

I bought a brand new Toyota pickup 1994. Inside the back bumper was all rust on day 1. They never coated it. It took 180,000 miles to finally rust through

Any rust from that mark will take 30 years to rust through your frame
It’s a car that’s meant to be driven. Enjoy it and use it up

Your car has flaws just like everything else in life

Light sand and rattle can color of choice. Should have been taken care of at factory.

I work in an automotive paint shop, that is, as was said, where the skid touches the body as the robots paint it.
