I’d go brand new, personally

Yeah, unfortunately the one I am planning on buying (Big Bend with Sasquatch, towing, LED, etc) would cost me $54,955 for a new one....
getting a super clean, one owner, 26k mile 2022 for almost $20K less than new tipped the scales for us to take a trip to AZ. Let the original owner take the hit on the depreciation and thank him for keeping her so clean for us

I liked that one too and it was local ...unfortunately the owner is a flake and never returned one message through Autotrader's "private seller exchange" ad...uughh

The good thing is that Bronco buyers are now in the driver’s seat regarding availability and pricing. Good luck.

I would not consider anything with a soft top to be a usable option. IMO the Bronco soft top is an unusable POS, though plenty of people seem to like them. An after market hard top is $6k+ so choose wisely. I would personally go for a used BB with lockers or a used BD. If you are looking sas a BB SAS is a better value than BD SAS.

Soft top is perfectly useable - I run mine 8 months out of the year. Sure, it’s louder and doesn’t look as sexy, but it’s also much easier to pop the top, annd can go all the way back without needing to stash that huge mid panel, and seems to have fewer systemic issues than the OEM MIC hard top does.

I wouldn’t let a soft top sway me if the rig had everything else I wanted, I guess is what I’m saying. Soft top is way more fun - safari mode is my favorite.

And, like you say, aftermarket stuff exists - for both hard and soft top if you don’t like whichever one you got.

Agree about the locker though, seems OP is going SAS so he had that covered.

interesting, what do you mean by "unusable"?

You had many issues with yours?

If it was a daily driver or if we lived in a cold climate, I think the hard top would be much more important, but it's just a weekend car pretty much since wife works from home and we live in a warm climate...We had a hard top with our Rubicon but seldom took it off, because of the hassle of it...Kinda excited about the soft top and the ease of taking down the top and putting it back up.

As @Brian_B said, I too love my soft top but did buy a @Turn Offroad hard top for winters and for long trips. I now just have to build a pully hoist system to make the swap easier!

I think a BD SAS is definitely the better value with its trim’s standards vs a BB.

Take the Black Diamond with the V6. Both engines suck, but I prefer the ever so slight more power you get from the V6.

I swap between hard and soft tops annually. Love the soft top summer, hard top winter.

Is there any difference between a BD SAS and a BB SAS? I would not think so, other than perhaps the not particularly useful reinforcement of the rear control arm covers. I agree that in the non SAS versions the BD is a better value because you get better gearing and the skids, even if you get lockers on the BB.

Nominally - besides accent colors, BD gets skid plates and mod bumper. Non-SAS BD gets rear locker standard too, but SAS equalizes that out

In these choices - the BD has the V6, which is a big difference

Cloth/carpet vs MGV/washouts.

The BD has steel front and rear bumpers, skid plates and aux switches as standard.

BD has the capable not mod bumper that are steel front and rear.
