Whistling Noise

Hello all,


I have a 2dr base and I am currently hearing a whistling noise from the drivers side A pillar and side mirror. This occurs when the window is up and down. Wondering if anyone else has had this and if there is a solution for it. Can’t hear it over the radio so not a big deal but curious if there is an at home remedy for this solution? Thank you

I've not experienced this, I have seen many who have delt with issues though.
a) check window is seating properly follow the relearn procedure after checking seals for debris.
b) check to make sure the roof panel is locked down and secured properly.

You didn't say if there was anything precluding this, IE a day with the windows down possibly where debris could get in the track. Caving the entire roof off and getting it properly back on. Having a weak/dead/unhooked battery.

Remember if all else fails there is always Autographs advice.

That rubber triangle part of the seal in the front corner sometimes has a bad crease in it - try fidgeting with it and see if the noise changes

One guy shoved a matchbook in there to put tension on it and it fixed his issue

That rubber triangle part of the seal in the front corner sometimes has a bad crease in it - try fidgeting with it and see if the noise changes

One guy shoved a matchbook in there to put tension on it and it fixed his issue

Yes that’s piece Brian B is referring to. Look on the inside of window, the edge should be flat, mine had a high spot(crease) that made it not sit flush against window. Had it replaced and fixed the problem. If you have that crease on inside, push on it with fingers next time you’re on the road see if the whistle goes away.

I have a 2022 that does this and I've kind of gotten used to it. But it this fixes it I'm going to be very happy!

Light bars and ditch lights are notorious for it to, but those are usually pretty obvious sources

After looking at the triangle seal and messing around with it, it still is producing the whistling when the triangle seal is pinched.

One other thing to look at - the covers for the rack attachments on top of the windshield. They usually rattle if they are loose (and it sounds like it comes from the center console for some reason)

Never heard of one whistling but if one got cocked or something it’s possible

May also want to pop the top panels off and see if anything changes - just the act of pulling and reinstalling may jog something around.

Try taping over suspect areas and go drive it. If the noise is gone, stop and take some of the tape off. Repeat until noise returns. The last piece of tape you pulled off is the source of the noise. A little tedious, but the best method for finding wind noise. You may want to take a passenger along since you may have things taped off that prevents you from opening the driver door.

I seem to remember an old thread someone using this procedure. If I recall it ended up being the plastic valance panel in front of the windshield or the DS mirror.
