Why do only the front seat floor mats clip into place?

Stupid question of the day…or maybe not. Why did Ford make it so where only the front floor mats clip into place and not the ones for the back seats also? I have to take out the back seat ones every time I take the doors off or otherwise they’ll go flying out of the vehicle.

And why does the driver side have two places to clip it into place but the passenger side only has one? Beyond weird.

Because doors offf has nothing to do with the front ones clipping in. That’s how all Fords are.

I heard Mike Levine had a bet out there with the Bronco team to see how many Ford floor mats are out in the wild. An "I Spy" bet if you will.

I believe it's because they want to prevent the mat from interfering with the pedals. No idea why the passenger side has any.

Remember all those "runaway" cars in the news about 10 years ago? Toyota blamed floormats, and clipping them in place has basically been industry standard since.
