Winch recommendations for capable bumper?

Any recommendations on a winch for someone fairly new at least new to using a winch? I just purchased Buckle up off-road winch bracket for my capable bumper.

You're likely going to get a lot of varying opinions but it seems the Badlands 12k from HF and the Warn VR Evo are some of the more popular options. I personally did the 10k Warn VR Evo with synthetic rope/cable in a JCR winch mount with capable bumper.

Another thing to consider (new to winching or not) would be adding frame horn reinforcements when you go to mount up the winch bracket. Do you need them? Not necessarily. Will you wish you had done them when you bend the frame horns and your bumper sits awkward? Every time you look at it.

Couple things to remember with Warn are they are not all created equal in terms of where they are made and assembled. The VR Evo line are not made in USA.

Best to search on here or Google, etc. for a good list of options as I won't be able to name most of the offroad shops that make them. Addictive Desert Designs, Metal tech and LOD Off Road are some examples.

I second doing frame support brackets while you are there. The LOD's seem to be the cheapest, but are a pain to install since you have to drill holes in your frame, and some people have to modify them. The A.D.D.'s seem pretty good and only cost a little bit more. And Metaltech is arguably the best but cost a good bit more.

This kit says required bracketry and hardware ... it does not come with the actual mount does it?

I believe it comes with everything, the box weighed 190#, the winch weigh's roughly 80#.

Ya I'm reading the instructions and it looks like it comes with everything same as what is in RagnarKon 's video ! I will just have to fab some mount for the sensors and camera on mine. I purchased the Buckle up off-road mount already that was almost $500 and I purchased that because it has all the brackets and wiring to relocate camera and sensors. I will figure something out if I can save that much money.

Just use the Warn winch that comes with the kit and sell the mount and other components that you won’t use for $500 to recover the Buckle Up mount you bought - duh…

BTW - the kit comes with 2 fairleads too!

Anyone want a Ford Performance mount ?

The buckle up mount sits a few inches higher which I assume give better approach angle but my OCD hates that the winch covers some of the BRONCO lettering ... looks like the Ford mount sits below the letters. I know it's stupid I need to get over it.

Warn is a well known with reliable products

Not anymore.

I've burned up 4 of them in the last 10 years.

I'm currently experimenting with a Superwinch on a JCR mount on my Bronco. Haven't had it long and used it enough to give a real opinion though.

I replaced one of the Warns on the F550 with a Sherpa 4x4 and so far, it's performed well.

The F350 got a Comeup that has also outperformed any of the Warns.

There is someone else in the crew who blew up a Warn and replaced it with a Badlands and seems happy so far.
