I’ve had to reset windows a good bit on my ‘21 OBX with Lux. Probably reset the rear driver window once a month during the warm months.

This morning I woke up to a new problem — opened my driver door, got in, shut the door, and immediately realized it didn’t index and was protruding (just in time for a winter storm). Pushed the down button and nothing. Still went through the reset procedure a few times. No up or down movement, but I can hear a faint clicking in the door when I push the button up and down.

My gut tells me the motor is dead and will need to be replaced. Wondering if anyone has had this experience and was able to sort it out without a trip to the dealer? I went ahead and bought the $35 replacement motor to swap out, but checking with the B6G community to see if there’s another fix.

Thank you!

I should add that I unplugged and replugged the door wiring, and pulled the negative battery post for a reset as well.

Did you check to see if the weather strip was stuck to the glass ??

This happens a lot in winter ... have not had it happen yet to my Bronco, but it happed often enough with my 2011, 2015, & 2021 Mustangs that I had made a simple tool out of a thin sheet of plastic to slide between the glass & w/s to break the ice seal when it happened.

Yeah I agree it’s probably a motor.

Reason why I asked is because the both of the driver’s side windows are controlled by the same module/control unit. So if both of them stopped working… would probably be the module. If it’s just one of them… probably the motor.

I used to work for an importer of aftermarket auto parts. We sold a sh**ton of window regulators. The corresponding OEM brand didn’t seem to matter.

Thank you, everyone. I'm going to assume motor as well. Regrading possible ice, I left in my heated garage overnight and this AM it was still a no-go. Now I have to put my wife's car back in the garage......

I have 50k miles on it, so far this is the only mechanical issue I've had. I replaced the center roof and driver roof panels under warranty 2 years go. The driver side delaminated along the front edge and let water in, the center panel was discolored and looked like crap. My front and rear cameras work off/on, with no descernable triggers. My IC would go blank upon first crank, then eventually came on after she warms up. That seemed to fix itself and no longer happens.

But in general very happy with my Bronco.

hmmm - thanks for posting that info. My rear driver window has problems, I was suspecting a module, but if the module is common to both driver windows than its something specific to the rear door

Depends what issue you are having.

If the window isn't moving at all, is super sluggish, or makes some horrible noise... probably a motor issue. If the window moves but it's behaving incorrectly (doesn't auto-drop when it should, or randomly rolls up after you roll it down), then it's probably module related.

Many of the common module issues you can solve yourself actually, Ford has instructions on how to reset the window calibration in the user manual.

@RagnarKon
It's in now for window and typ MT issues. The dealerships just keeps resetting the window but they don't fix the root issue......and I'm not sure they know what it is. I sure don't lol. I was hoping a module swap or software update would fix but they wont replace the module.

Seems to be a common issue on here. Drivers rear window would not drop down when opening, so flutter and rattle like crazy when you open the door when window has not dropped, then stays above the seal when closing. Dealership has reset, I have reset. This drives me nuts, just want it to work like the other 3 windows.

Recently the same window started a new thing. When auto up would hit the top and go down, no stopping it until it hits the bottom. Small short bumps on the switch and i could get it close to the top. Sucks when its raining.

Dealership recognizes the issue, but does not know what else to do. I have asked them to elevate to Ford. I doubt it goes anywhere but will see.

Same problem here, passenger window hits the top and then drops like a rock. Ford really needs to create a recall for this, too many people having the same issue.
