Before I reserved my base bronco I was dead set on getting a base gladiator or 2 door willy, when I compared what came standard on the base bronco to the jeeps the bronco won. Base bronco comes standard with modern technology (sync 4/8in touch screen, Apple car pay), AIR CONDITIONING!!(how is this not standard in the Jeep's, baffles me), LED headlights, and more. If I wanted those features on a jeep it would up charge city. Bronco has a better open air and on road experience which is important as this will be my daily driver not a rock crawler. That said I will be taking it to the silver lake dunes in Michigan as soon as i get it!

The ONLY way Jeep will not be a POS is if any division of FCA (now PSA) doesn't build it. They are 110% pure shite. Design improvements cannot make up for lousy builds and atrocious reliability. I am the ultimate in stupid because I have owned 4 (four) of them and all 4 were junk. Maybe PSA Group will do better but I doubt it. I sold Alfa Romeo, & Fiat and some never made it home after we delivered them to customers. We had new Alfas that were DOA and even Alfa engineers couldn't fix them.

My wife bought a brand new 2018 JLU Sahara that came with factory installed Death Wobble. After numerous visits to the dealer, they simply shrugged their shoulders and said, "It's a Jeep thing". Perfectly normal. So after buying a brand new Jeep, we had to take it to a Jeep specialist that put a custom front steering damper on it. For $400. We can still feel the wobble, but it's just not as terrifying.

Was it four or more visits to the dealer?

Jeep is the redheaded stepchild of a failing multinational corporation at best. At worst it's a company too stubbornly absorbed in some obscure notion that the wrangler is a pure and perfect design circa 1940s to seriously consider any major changes except when dragged kicking and screaming by crashing sales figures or parent company intervention.

Competition should be good for Jeep. I am sure the Bronco will make for a better wrangler(it already has in regards to getting the hemi 392 jeep out the door). I just wouldn't expect major overall improvement soon.

With everyone complaining about Ford dropping the ball and not being prepared for the pandemic and the ongoing delays with the Bronco it makes me wonder why isn't Jeep taking advantage of this and redesigning the Wrangler?

Ford clearly designed the Bronco based on Jeep owners complaints and would they wish Jeep would fix and make better.

If I were Jeep I'd take advantage of Fords delays and make the Jeep even better!

Some of the things they can at least fix in a simple redesign would be.

1. A better base engine. That 3.6 could be better. More power.

2. Get rid of that stupid B pillar cross bar/sound bar with speakers right down the center. Totally kills the open air experience.

3. Mirror's off the doors.

4. Make 35s available from the factory. Especially on the Gladiator. For God sake. The Mojave and Rubicon should come with 35s.

5. Make lockers available from the factory for other models like the Willys at least. Even if it's just rear.

6. Drop the F-ing price. Jeeps are ridiculously expensive for what you get. Part of the reason I never bought one.

I can name a dozen more things they could do but I won't. If they just do the 6 simple things buy the time the Bronco actually is out in full force they would attract a lot of new buyers and retain Jeep customers looking to switch to the Bronco.

Guaranteed Jeep won't though. They'll just shove a V8 in the dinosaur design they already have and charge you $80k for it and call it better.

For the record I'm not Ford fan boy at all or any brand for that matter and would totally buy a Jeep if they fixed these issues. Part of me hopes they will because they can probably do the redesign and still get them out sooner then the Bronco. Lol.
It took Jeep 8 years to design the current model. They will get back to you in another 6-8 years.

I haven't read through the thread yet, but Jeep plans to offer 35's stock for 2022. A good family friend and neighbor is a Stellantis engineer and whenever we're having a few beers I poke him about the Bronco. He used to say, "it's no Jeep! We're not worried!" but he is much quieter as it gets closer to us actually getting them. I wonder why.

Anyways, 35's are 100% in the plan. I don't know if they will be offered on all trims or even on the two door, but they will be offered on at least one trim on the four door, planned for 2022.

He also told me the 392 was no joke and going to happen way before it was teased and I thought he was full of crap and they hit the 2021 target, so I tend to believe him.

Enzo Ferrari supposedly once said that Jeeps are the only true American sports car... When you talk about the competition making them better, I hope it is towards off road performance and quality/durability. Before crossovers really took over, Wranglers were often being compared to that type of SUV. They were considered "uncomfortable" "too hard to get into" "too loud inside" etc. Many brands started going towards luxury and comfort and I think Jeep was starting to go down this road fearing the pressure from the competition... But then it seemed like they owned what they are and started gearing them more toward what they were meant to be "off road sports cars" focused on FUN. I think it helped set them apart more and actually improved their sales. They shouldn't be geared toward being an every day comfortable daily driver, though that can still be and has been improved over the years. I do appreciate the IFS etc. I will be getting on my Bronco, but I don't think it belongs on a Jeep. Instead of trying to melt into something it's not from one side of competitive pressure, they should stand their ground and make the damn thing as Jeep-like as possible. It is a marvelous design at it's roots. I hope the competition doesn't soften them up into Grand Cherokees but instead makes them kickass like the CJ66 concept. Now that is a cool vehicle.

This forum used to have relatively informed and intelligent people in it. Sigh.

To be fair. A manual transmission Rubicon with a soft top isn’t really that much more than a base samsquanch. Plus you would get the sway bar disco and could add a reasonably priced cold weather package. The base base vs Wrangler Sport base is literally the only trim level where the Bronco is a better deal. With the way Ford screwed the pooch on options bundles at every other trim level the Jeep comes out at a better price with a more livable interior. And the back seat folds flat. And it exists. Ford could decide to be less scotch on the options and do the seats better and use gear ratios that are more conducive to fuel economy and will still walk all over jeeps on the road. They just must have decided that they don’t want to totally kill Jeep. Not at first anyway.

Ford delays the Bronco because of parts availability due to the pandemic. You are suggesting that Jeep make major changes that would require new tooling during the pandemic? News flash. The parts availability is not just a Ford problem. Jeep may be able to get improvements done on paper but nothing could happen with actual hard parts.
