New steering wheel from Carbontastic

Sat in a Bronco Raptor a few months ago and was immediately jealous of the chunkier steering wheel. These guys at Carbontastic did a really nice job. I wasn't looking for a bunch of carbon fiber or alcantara, just went with perforated leather on sides, thicker leather all around and a slight flat bottom. The stitching looks brigher in the pics than in real life, it really does look like a good match with the Wildtrak sandstone interior.

Took about 10 weeks from when I ordered, but generally they say 6-8. I gave up my heated wheel, which was never that warm IMO (yeah, could have used forscan I guess). They offer a heated option but I wasn't sure what kind of wiring they use or if it would be compatible with the OEM connector.

i have one from them on my gen 2 raptor pickup. great company. but looking at companies today, they are a bit over priced.

It was about $1200 with the custom stitching. Heated option would have been $300 more.

Pricey, I know, but it really looks/feels good.

For that price did you consider the Archtype Racing wheel? Maybe not what you were going for.

But then you would have to wait at least 10 months instead of weeks

Looks great! I’d like to go with this look but I like my heated steering wheel. That puts all the options out of range for me unfortunately.

Very easy, you can find a couple of videos on YouTube.

The most annoying part is getting the airbag unit to disengage, you have to slide an allen wrench through a small hole on either side of the wheel to get the retention clips to pop open. You need to position the allen wrench at a certain angle to get enough of a "push" on the clips... again, not hard, just kinda annoying until you get a feel for it.

There is a single bolt holding the wheel down, uses a TP50 torx bit, torque it to 46 ft lbs.

Yeah I hear ya...I was on the fence for awhile because I didn't want to lose the heated option either...but sometimes looks > function, LOL

So do you send them your current steering wheel and they modify it (then you're left with no steering wheel for weeks), or are you buying an all-new steering wheel to swap out?
