Man, if you were within a few hours of uwharrie national forest, you really need to go out there and check it out (Badin Lake OHV). There’s something for everyone. You can have a nice little cruise or you can scare yourself and everything in between. Beautiful out there. It’s strange to me how there is what seems to be a very old mountain range in the middle of North Carolina. Really cool. Go do it.

Too cool! Couldn't help but notice the guard rails, was this like a real highway in a past life? Or are they trying to prevent Jeeps and Broncos from leaving the tail?

Off-Roadeo Outpost was fun! I think I met more 6G members there than either Tennessee or Texas…

I highly recommend Uwharrie too!

ENC here, I try to get to URE several times a year. Back in May that spot was kicking A LOT of vehicles butts. It looks like it might have been filled in a little, it was a lot steeper. I was there first weekend in May and it didn’t exist, 2 weeks later and it was destroying people!

That mud pit on Falls Dam looks better than it was a month or so ago. That pit and the one in the middle of Dutch John were almost impossible slurries of mud. Now that they're drivable (not just side by sides and rigs on 40s digging the ruts deeper), the trail should be a lot more fun!

Edited to correct the name of the trail. Falls Dam, not Wolf's Den.

We use to go there when we lived in Virginia years ago. Very nice park but as I recall it has the slickest mud I've ever experienced!

Yeah it’s been raining a lot - super slippery! Fun, but definitely a challenge when it’s wet.

Amen! I always see this videos and think: "My God I would hate cleaning that up."

This is at the top of Thorn Creek Butte looking eastward. There are multiple mountain ranges in the background, but I'm sure none of them are called Steel Mountain.

Thanks for the photo location. I never made it up to the top of Thorn Creek Butte, but I spent a summer thinning timber in various parts of the Idaho City Ranger District. Steel Mountain is off to the east of Thorn Creek Butte in Google Earth. I recognized the silhouette in your photo. Thanks for bringing up some good memories!
