I put 35x11.5 Toyo Open Country AT3 (Load Range C) Tires on my stock Badlands yesterday, and happy to say they fit just fine with plenty of room left for Upper control arm clearance and vertical travel (maybe not rock crawling). No Lift. I did at 6MM KSP Disc Spacers just for a little more clearance on the control arms for low pressure sand driving. Happy with the change so far, there are some differences in ride, acceleration and braking, just feels like a heavier tire ( they are only 12 lbs heavier than stock K02's.) Debating installing Method 703 bronze 35mm offset wheels next, mostly for the appearance. I will say, despite having nearly identical tread width, the Toyos look skinner than the K02s at full lock because they are taller.

(NOTE: TOOK THE SPACERS OFF! Wheels felt terribly unbalanced on highway. Clearance without them is fine. )

I was too concerned such a set up wouldn’t work. Same tires but put on Everglades rims.

So are the Toyos 285/75/17? I'm curious why you went with these tires vs. keeping the KO2s until they wore out?

Looks great with those rims! I probably could have skipped the spacers but dont mind them.

The Toyos are 35x11.5, the K02s were 285/70/17. I made the move to get the increased diameter (34.5 Toyo vs 32.8 inches KO2 ). Didn't want to go to 315 70/17 (sasquatch) as that would have likely required new rims as well.

I have Toyo AT III's on my Big Bend along with aftermarket Sasquatch rims and a Zone 2" lift. At full articulation the crash bars were rubbing so I swapped the OEM's for 4WheelPart tapered crash bars. I have about 13,000 miles on the tires and love them.

Looks great. I'm curious what your mileage drop will be like, 4lbs heavier than a K02 is not bad at all. Are you concerned at all about enough thread engagement on the lug nuts? I have 6mm spacers on mine with steelies and I wouldn't be comfortable with any less engagement than I have.

So are the Toyos 285/75/17?
They have both sizes ... 285/75-17 AND 35x11.5-17

The 35x 11.5 is .6" taller and weighs 4 lbs more than the C rated 285/75-17

The 285/75-17 is 33.9" tall by 11.3 wide.
It can be had in Load Range C or E and weigh 59 and 60 lbs respectively.

The 35 x 11.5-17 is 34.5" tall and 11.5" wide.
It is also load Range C and weighs 63 lbs.

I always wonder why some manufacturers make so many size options for such an insignificant difference. 0.6” for 4 lbs increase?

Stock Badlands has the 4.43 or 4.7? I forget.

The comparable Nitto Recon Grappler is the only one that I’ve found that makes a 37x11.5 to fit the stock steelies - rated for 7.5-10 - but, 70.61 lbs.

Glad to hear some more good reviews about rhe AT3. Will be putting 255 80 R17 on my black diamond at some point and it's likely between those and the falkens.

The difference isn’t 4#. The stock 285/70R17 BFG are 51# (50.5# on some charts), so these 63# Toyos are 12# heavier. I’ve read elsewhere that the Badlands optional wheels are 37# making the OP’s combo 100#. Swapping to the Method 703 (28.7#) like the OP mentions will save about 8# per corner. The Method 705 that I run are 25.3# in the same +35mm offset would get his combo almost down to stock weight. Tire weight makes more of a difference in feel than wheel weight because of centrifugal forces having a larger effect further from the hub, but lighter is still better.

I run the 285/75R17 Toyo. They fit great on my non SAS Badlands 7MT with all crash bars still in place. With the 4.70 gears the additional 1” diameter helped make first gear feel more usable, but didn’t noticeably impact use of 6th gear on the highway or did it make much difference in MPG. I’m averaging 17 mpg around town and 20-21 highway at 70 mph.

For lug nut thread engagement, on aftermarket wheels the ET ones used by Toyota Tacoma owners would be a good call to ensure enough thread engagement. I don’t think there is something similar for stock wheels.

There ya go! 315's will fit as well, though not as much clearance as those 11.5" tires. I'm pushing the limits on mine. Lol.

Very awesome, I really like the 33" KO2s I have but will definitely bump up to these, 35" looks perfect since there is plenty of room.
