Base Bronco Fog Lights and Ditch Lights Install -- DIY How-to w/ Photos

Here’s my (I’d say successful) attempt at adding fog lights and ditch lights to my base bronco (no aux switches)

The fogs are more out of necessity because I live in a snowy climate, and the ditch lights were just on the wishlist… figured I’d do them both at the same time.

Fogs here (AKKON Brand)
Ditches here (AUXBEAM)
Switches here (NiLight)
Bezel here

My goal was to install everything so that it’s totally removable incase I want to go back to stock. I succeeded in that except for having to drill holes in the trim pieces on the bumper for the fogs. But looks like I can replace those for ~$50 a piece new.

I fuse tapped on the 20A heated steering wheel circuit so that everything turns off when the ignition is off. The fogs are on a 10A fuse with their original wiring harness and the ditches are on a 7.5A fuse with their original harness.

I ordered nilight switches on Amazon to replace the cheap push buttons that came with both sets of lights and I designed and printed a housing to be VHB’d under the dash where my knees don’t touch it. I bought a 2-gang switch bezel to screw onto the housing.

I’m really happy with how it turned out!

I'm glad you called out specifically that it doesn't hit your knees, as that was my first question. Looks like it would, but I guess not.

Are the fog lamps really bright the reason why I'm asking is because I would like some additional light because the headlights are now that bright

Looks like the o/e switch with the fog and ditch buttons is less than $100 on eBay… I’ve been wondering if they put out a simple 12v signal that I could wire to replace the signal coming from my rocker switches. Doesn’t power power the lights, just simply tells the relay to switch on the lights

fogs aren’t super bright but I can tell when they’re on. And the my shine close to the road which is nice.

I have the switch already and I have it enabled with Forscan, I just need to splice into the junction block near the underhood since base models don't have fog wiring run to the bumper. And I'd rather see someone do it first before venturing into that alone.

Does the switch put out a 12v signal when you hit the fog button? You'd have to figure out which pin on the back of the switch is the fog signal.... That's all you'd need to tell the relay that comes with the light kit's harness to turn on.

*Edit* I misunderstood at first, sounds like you've already done all the heavy lifting on adding in the OEM fog lamp switch.

I didn't dig through all 74 pages of that thread, but it seems to imply that some Broncos are pre-wired, and just have dust caps on the end for non-OEM fog lamp builds:

You just summarized my latest reply - but longer!.

Appreciate the links but all info I have at hand. As previously noted, unless I've missed it, I have yet to see anyone actually tap into the junction block (C203) with a pigtail of their own. Thought this thread might change that.
