Sounds like it takes a second to spool up, or Ford has neutered it in the low RPMs in first gear, but once it hits boost, it goes!

Considering it is the same engine that is in my Explorer ST, I really think this was just a 'throw in' to say it has a bigger engine than the 2.7, but doesn't do much in reality. They proved with the DR that they can fit a V8 in it, and I think they should have done that with the Raptor. Make it special, but not to the extreme that the DR is.

I know they will still sell every one they make, but except for the IP, there is nothing about the Raptor that makes it worth $20k more in my opinion.

wheel travel isnt cheap. 16.7k just for the front mid travel for a f150 raptor. while beefy, same parts needs to be done to a bronco to increase wheel travel. front and rear + install and you're way over 20k already. add the 3.0, the beefier frame and stronger axle, 37s and I'd say the 20k premium comes at a bargain.

It’s about $7k more than a First edition was. The FE was also $7k more than a Badlands and that only got you a decal

THIS, Depending on your original build you could be looking at a premium less than $20K. My Badlands build was sitting at $62,620, my Raptor build is 75,680.

But you're talking about brand new, complete replacement parts. Completely replacing still new parts is a huge, costly waste on a new truck, but starting out with those better parts from the factory should be a lot more cost effective.

All of 1st gear seems neutered. It launches much better is you start in 2nd gear (manual mode) then throw it into drive. Off the line brake boosted to 2.5K RPMS in Sport mode (4A) pulls a lot harder compared to doing the same in 1st.

I dont know what you're getting at, mid travel kits have always cost this much, sometimes more. it requires welding, so you arent getting it used, and braptor takeoffs arnt going to fit a base bronco because of the coil buckets alone. Even if you did get takeoffs at 1/2msrp, you're still over the 20k budget, and even then, the braptor premium includes the mods under warranty. Sorry but both platforms are leagues apart and price is just not an argument here. you're getting more value per dollar with the braptor no question.

Have you worked on a desert truck? Do you know how much extra parts were cut to make room for it? How many DOT parts were removed to fit that engine in there? Just because a V8 block fits under the hood does not mean it could physically fit with all the emission and DOT parts or without cutting part of the engine compartment out for clearance.

I looked for decent aftermarket long travel suspension before I ordered my Raptor. The fact that almost every "lift kit" out there only talks about how much it lifts the truck and nothing about wheel travel is a huge red flag for me. The pre-running aftermarket parts aren't there yet and who knows how long it will be. You can't just swap out the front too, you'd need to swap the rear as well. If I could have dropped 20k on suspension for a Badlands and felt that it would match the Raptor I probably would have.

The Raptor is probably overkill, or hell "just right kill" for Rock Crawling by for hitting a whoop section in Nevada or Baja it is really the only option.
