Fake Woofer Delete - Kicker 6.7 Subwoofer Install

The fusion amp is readily available from OCO industrial website - eBay had a lot of the fusion amps with the wrong harness sockets! The fp5t is the right one !!
Everything was plug and play - I added some rock wool to the enclosure and on the outside jammed between items to dampen things a bit. I added a diy foam gasket to the plastic speaker ring. Small amounts of weather stripping added for vibration on the side panel as well.

As a first time FORscan user I needed to get the new firmware and install a driver to my laptop , ** the link EX did not identify the bronco before downloading those.

I also plotted frequency response graphs of the before and after recordings. Amplitude of the 50Hz range is MUCH greater after.

There has been alot of discussion about whether to use the KICKER 48CWRT672 (2 Ohm) or the 48CWRT674 (4 Ohm). How is the 2 Ohm working out for you?

Both of my terminals on the speaker have the label two ohms written on them, wiring up the speaker with the factory terminals I assume it's like a 4 ohm load that the amp will see. Since I am hooked to all 4 prongs.
I didn't tear apart the harness that feeds into the amp but I'm assuming there is a bus on the inside that makes the speaker in the series configuration in this diagram. Because if they were parallel I'd be BLASTING with only 1 ohm resistance.

Crutchfield says the 48CWRT672 has dual 2 Ohm voice coils. Here is a link to a discussion comparing the 2 Ohm and 4 Ohm coils:

Wait you are telling me I can use the fake subwoofer to build a functional one. I just bought a '23 Badlands with the subwoofer delete. I just pulled the sub out to sound proof the back. I'm definitely doing this.

After driving around with a 2 ohm sub for a while I did decide that it was quite 'boomy' as some folks have been saying. Ordered a 4 ohm and just installed it, haven't spent much time listening yet but did a quick recording with the exact same song sample and volume as above. Lost about 5 dB at the 50Hz area with the 4 ohm. Hopefully will be more crisp and proportional to the intended mix by the artist when listening to a song.

cheap sub box with no density and cheap drivers will not solve boominess nor will 4 ohm.

You could try 3 layers sound deadening on enclosure and a high end Focal 8" but thats close to $800 and no guarantees.

I have 1000W on 2 ohm 12" Hertz MPBX300S2 mounted on tailgate and no boominess digs deep on OE signal processed by Kenwood XR1001.1
