Because it is clocked all the way over, right?
Ya, the bleeder and the banjo bolt are more or less pointed at the ground once its installed. The bleeder is slightly higher, but the body of the caliper is on top of the bleeder as opposed to vise versa when normally installed. An air bubble would sit there and never get purged. I considered trying the Phoenix injector to bleed, but ended up doing it the conventional way. Best way I found was have my bleeding assistant sit in the vehicle while I disassembled each corner and mocked it up on a rotor holding it by hand in what would be the "normal" install position...reassembling each after it appeared to be bled. Important to have an assistant that follows directions for this!

I don't see anything different? 🧐

Just kidding! Damn!!! That's with 37's? You're gonna need a cherry picker to get in that engine compartment! lol
Thats after the 40s went on. Could maybe get the can in there sideways on the 37s

Exactly, they're clocked almost 180 degrees from stock, so they're upside down now...

It's a closed hydraulic system, the only thing that even matters for orientation is the bleeder, because when it's open it will let air in if it isn't up...

I was digging the 40s out of the snow!

20240119_170355.webp

I just measured an aluminum can, 4.75".

14.5 +/- for the bucket and 4 3/4 for the can comes to 19 and a quarter. DAMN!!!!!!

Damn straight 42's look like they'll fit. That should push it over 20" of ground clearance.

Welp, I just read all the way through 74weld's excellent illustrated instruction set.. flipping the calipers side to side wouldn't help as either way would still leave space for an air pocket in the caliper, they do have fairly good instructions on how to bleed the brakes with the current orientation.

that’s crazy. You really do look like you are 4’2”. As always thanks for the detailed posts.

So what is the actual built-in height gain from the portals themselves. Axle centerline to portal hub centerline?

The instructions show using the old rotor clamped face to face above with the new rotor and positioned slightly above and temporarily placing the caliper on the old rotor clocked in a bleedable position at top.

Sounds like one of the biggest challenges of the install is bleeding the brakes.

Damn... Have to admit that is tall..... but the big prize is that clearance!!!!

Looks to me like you have a 3-1/2 or 4 inch suspension lift???

i'm going to UP the budget to include a new house with a taller opening for the garage!
If you keep the suspension lift to 2.5 inch you should be able to get in an 8 foot garage door with about an inch and a half clearance (with a roof rack)... ask me how I know.... 😁

I don't know if these would clear, but I found these Method beadgrips with a 45mm offset and 39x12.5 tires. We've seen 55mm offset wheels, but I'm a fan of the Method beadgrip tech.
I'd want to see them mounted, but I think tall/skinny/narrow/machined combo would look good on the retro lines of the Bronco.
It could be the portals will never give you that look, so Sasquatch wheels would save a ton of money and 13.5 width tires would give you many more choices.
