Speedometer display question

Normal mode driving the speedometer display is clean and easy. In Sport mode, there is a horizontal red line that floats around behind the MPH shown.
I looked through the manual but didn't see anything obviously related.
What does that red line track?

Isn't that the tach.

If you're talking about this line, it just goes up/down as the speedometer increases/decreases.
It's there in every mode, just more pronounced in sport mode.

Well that picture is in ECO mode, not sport mode. It was just one I found online.
But I'm guessing that's the line you're referring to?

The thin red line moves with the speed...not tach.
