Good job, looks good. You going to powder-coat it or just rattle can?

You design looks similar to mine with the exception of mine being smaller and lighter. Mine is based off a piece of 2in. by 1/4in thick square tubing. No modular bumper just base one, what I wanted. The tubing is mounted to the 2 tow hooks by plates welded to it, held on by removable pins. The winch plate is bolted to a steel plate welded to the tubing. With a badlands 9500 winch, the whole setup is not much heaver than a modular by itself. The whole setup can be removed as one or pull the 2 winch mount bolts and leave the tube mount on.

I tossed around a lot of ideas. I had all the metal on hand. Some day I may redesign it. First Ill test it for a while and see what I don't like. I will say it's nice to have the ability to do fabrication projects like this.

Sure is fun doing these things, my wife used to ask me if I will ever stop modding things, my answer was Nooo
she finally gave up on me. Retired now but my back ground was mechanic and fabricator on heavy Equpment front end loaders forklifts etc. There was never an end to fixing, upgrading and complete rebuilding frames on those things. Loved what I did, retired now but the urge to keep changing things never went away.

Nice - very interesting idea, and it eliminates all the relocation issues, etc.

That was part of my reasoning behind it. I also wanted to take it off when not in use. Our Wisconsin winters being so much salt. No matter what winch you have it would be rotted away.

CAT welder fabricator/ machinist here. That’s pretty slick, and plenty strong. Probably stronger than the bumper brackets/shackle bracket bolts. The 3/4” thick flanges are overkill, but better too strong than the opposite.

Keep in mind that chunk laying in the back of the Bronco will become a projectile inside the truck if have an accident. Maybe strap it down.

I’m like the roofer whose roof leaks at home. Hard to get motivated to fab stuff for myself when I do it at work 60-70 hours a week.

I like it, I been looking something like this! I have 12k winch and Brush guard and I can't seem to find a mount that will let me fit it.

Agreed, it's a big projectile! That's why there are straps on the anchor points. Also agree it's over built. I tend to overbuild on my first rendition. The future may entail a lighter more appropriate sizing to make it lighter.

I too do a ton of fabrication. Most of mine however is on piping and pretty much exclusively stainless. Thought about building this out of stainless in the future rebuild. But I will have to justify that with enough use. Otherwise I'll likely stay with this one.

Joe, love the build! It's all about function and I see no reason why that will not do exactly what you need.
