In the F150 The 2.7 makes less horsepower, but makes the same 400 ft/lb torque at 2,750 rpm wheras the 5.0 does it at 4500 rpm. The 2.7 is also 1 full second quicker 0-60. I've driven them all extensively. (I own the 3.5 EB too). The 2.7 drives better, accelerates better, and gets better mileage. The only thing it doesn't do better is make engine noises, which IMO is a silly reason to pick an engine, but still a valid reason nonetheless if thats what you're going for.I will buy one for certain if a 5.0 is coming. But if not, I will still likely buy one assuming the 2.7TT has enough power.
I think the v8 would get any hardcore enthusiasts still on the fence about the design over the edge into purchasing one. And with gas prices bottoming out that only adds fuel to the fire.
