I think early summer @BroncoKong Jr posted info from an insider associated with the tops indicating the modular was 50% heavier.

That's quite a bit, especially for the large rear section with glass installed. Overhead and awkward either way, 50% could definitely matter.

50% heavier than what, we don't know and that may be stale info at this point if things have changed but it may give some idea

This is the info we have on the materials right now:

(It was pointed out to me that technically SMC is thermoplastic... either way, I'm not an expert in materials, this was just copied/paraphrased from someone who works at the plant making the tops.)

Yeah...I submitted mine thru Akins. Will be interesting to see Ford's projection of build dates, come May. I grew up in Atl...seems like Ellis has been around since dirt.

The shadow black top in B&P works, and then doesn't for the OBX. I was playing around with it, chose it first then chose the modular bumper and the roof went away.

I also had inconsistent results depending on which angle/view and whether I selected the optional wheels or not.

So the 4 door modular painted hard top has FOUR removable panels as opposed to only two over the front seats with MIC?

Looking at aftermarket hard top pricing (using a TJ for example), once we get some options down the road, pricing should be +or- $2k for a MOD top? Right now, used factory hard tops are selling around $1000 for TJ's. I think I will wait to see what the aftermarket has to offer and sell my MIC top for some cash to make up the difference.

My Wildtrak build looks so much better. OBX and Trak need the black top to look good IMO.
