Just want to get some thoughts from the people here. There has been long talk about the Hybrid setup coming from the Aviator to be paired with this engine. Has anyone heard about this or know if Ford is leaning toward this direction? I know things have been kinda mum, but Iā€™m truly wondering why this hasnā€™t picked up steam.

These beasts are heavy enough. Iā€™m not sure you can weigh this thing down much more and expect great performance. The 2.7 doesnā€™t do what it can in the F150. I think this engine will end up in a bronco. But more likley an OBX trim. But the raptor bronco, I think will need to be something separate. Just my $.02

Thatā€™s a valid point. I donā€™t know if Iā€™m feeling having the 3.5 in there like people have been saying.

I think the hybrid is likely given jeeps hybrid availability and industry directions. Not to mention alot of hi-po EV options coming out in the next few years.

I thought it would be too, but given how nothing has been ā€œleakedā€ by Ford to point us in the direction that this is the engine they would go with, Iā€™m confused as to why this wouldnā€™t be their go to option to compete against the 392 and the Jeep 4xe. Itā€™s already on a platform they have, and it would be pretty bad ass in terms of horsepower from a viable engine. Their electric offerings in the future do seem plentiful, but looking at this release, Iā€™m hoping this engine is an option.

Consider the delta cost of the 2.7 in the Bronco is $1895 (F-150 $1195 from the 3.3 which is cheaper than the 2.3 Eco so it is even more lopsided, perhaps to discourage it). In that vein, I would expect any further engine upgrades to be even worse than the $700 more than in other applications. Short version is I expect the Aviator extension cord powertrain to ring in at a lot more than people might think.

Something like 80% (and it would be worse if the manual drivers weren't locked in to the 2.3) went with the bigger engine, per the various stats here and from Ford ($700 x 100000 is $70M more on the optional engine, WT and FE were picked because of the engine as well, so they count). Ford under-engined the vehicle from the get go based on demand and I do not expect them to 'fix' it without soaking us even more than in other applications.

Will the hybrid make it into the Bronco? Without a doubt. Will it make it into the Warthog/Raptor? I highly doubt it. My guess, the 400hp version of the 3.5L.

The aviator drivetrain has been rumored for the warty since inception. Look at some of the oldest thread in this section

I should have clarified better. My fault. Lately I been seeing this option omitted and people saying the 3.5 is what will offered.

No worries, my bad I didnā€™t mean it as an insult.

The rumor mill has kind of dried up on the Warty and itā€™s very possible everything weā€™ve heard has been wrong haha

after jeep did what they did they have to put a extremely high power engine in the truck

a hybrid would be insulting

just put a coyote in it. no shame in doing so

Aviator 3.0L PHEV 494 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque

Wrangler 392 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque

That's before any performance tuning is done to the 3.0L Ecoboost PHEV

Not to mention I'd be the Bronco Warthog will get better MPGs too.

The Coyote out of a Mustang GT doesn't even have those numbers.
