Not right now, but I'll definitely get you some when I get it back from PPF.Do you have a picture of the gatorbacks?
I can pretty much guarantee that was etched and painted. Probably etched the glass etc too. If it were numbered as previously planned, it would be “# of #” instead of vinOkay fellow FE owners, time to confirm or debunk this. Anyone with a sub 100 VIN? Was yours serialized or did this dealer pull off the plate and etch in the VIN #??? Looks like they painted the First Edition lettering as well.
I do like the idea of doing this to mine though.

Once Ford changed from MOD to the MIC top, I no longer liked the black glossy grille and the many different shades of black. Plus, I didn’t really like the “fancy” look. Just not my style. I decided to have my grille and flares painted with black raptor paint to match most of the other subdued blacks. I like the outcome so much that I’m having the mirrors painted to match.Any views on whether to get OEM paintable flares and paint them body color for the FE? I want to do it but I’m not certain i will love it. Lightning blue.
I’d keep the original flares and would be able to interchange them. But is it worth the cash.
How much did they get you for for the flares? Buying a new set of primed OEM flares is 1180 just for the parts!Once Ford changed from MOD to the MIC top, I no longer liked the black glossy grille and the many different shades of black. These are the same sas flares, just painted to match the grille. They painted the grille, flares, and letters all for $300.How much did they get you for for the flares? Buying a new set of primed OEM flares is 1180 just for the parts!
Wow. That’s a great deal. Buying new flares is crazy but I guess with non textured paint it’s a must. Like you I just don’t know how I feel about all of the different shades of black. In person were your original flares exactly the same shade as the mic top? These are the same sas flares, just painted to match the grille. They painted the grille, flares, and letters all for $300.
Do you see any reason why the gator back mudflaps would not fit with the 4wp running boards, or do you think it will work fine?
- Getting the AR Stirrups for my wife. It IS fun watching her try to get in, though.
- I bought the Gatorback mudflaps from Varsity Ford. Expensive but worth it, IMO... Especially for a FE. Installed quick and look great.
- Definitely recommend PPF. My PPF is getting put on right now. Those Sas tires LOVE to throw rocks. Also, I seem to be a gravel magnet for things getting thrown AT me on the highway. Sucks.
There’s nothing to debunk. Ford absolutely sent out many with the VIN etched. The ones I’ve seen went to celebrities and large dealership owners. I can’t verify the claim they only did the first hundred. There is still a chance we get one in the mail, was a plan at one point but who knows if they follow through. It will not be #xxxx of xxxx. That plan was dropped long ago when it was realized many less than 7000 would be built.Okay fellow FE owners, time to confirm or debunk this. Anyone with a sub 100 VIN? I’d ask @Ford Motor Company To confirm this but I can’t believe a word that comes out of their mouth so……There’s nothing to debunk. Ford absolutely sent out many with the VIN etched. If mine doesnt have the VIN on the plate, I'll build a jig and laser anneal my VIN into my plate. Once I get it setup, I can do the same for those that want to participate.
