We keep an Element E50 fire extinguisher up front, but since I had a 2.5 Lb. Halotron fire extinguisher and Poly Performance quick release mount laying around from my old Tundra I figured I'd put it to good use in the Bronco.

I made a roll bar plate out of 1/8" steel and fastened the mount to the plate, then used the factory roll bar threaded holes to mount the plate. Since we have the IAG roll bar protector, I cut a spacer from some ABS plastic to allow the plate to lay flat. Everything clears the top, so we should be good to go.

OK @medguy and @Inlinejohn......move over, I'm officially joining your camp 🍻 .

After our discussion, I decided to pull the pinch seam covers prior to installing the sliders, just to make sure no moisture was getting trapped behind them. We've only had them on for a couple of weeks and any mud/dirt was from our gravel road and all the rain we've had.

When I pulled them there was some damp dirt behind them and the truck had been sitting in the garage for a couple days, so to error on the side of caution, I decided to remove them and just paint the seams with a rattle can bed liner material and use some plastic panel plugs to hide the holes. I think the actual covers are perfectly fine for some areas of the country, but I'm now a little skeptical for our rain forest climate.

I first painted the seams and let them dry. Then used a couple different sizes from the retainer kit linked below (since there were two different hole sizes) to cover the factory holes in the seams. I painted the retainer clips with the bed liner to blend in. Between the tape, paint and plastic retainer clips I have a couple hours and $50 into the entire project, not too bad.

Got the RCI sliders installed last night.

Really happy we went with the 20 degree.

They're very well build and install was straight forward.

Can't say enough good things about their customer service. Tim, Evan and crew are top notch.

Decided to add a molle panel to the tailgate to pick up some additional storage space, but couldn't find one at a reasonable price.

I didn't really want a table, but since it was decently priced and had a molle panel I figured why not.

The table is solid and has no rattles.

Finally found somebody to trade for some non-SAS fender flares.

Still waiting on the new non-SAS rear bumper caps to arrive, but I already like the look way better without those wide flares.

Decided to go back and add "rock dome" bolt head protectors to the two rear transmission skid plate bolts. I found some 10mm bolts in the shop that had low profile 17mm heads, which are perfect for these protectors.

Well....after measuring a couple of times, we went to drop the top all the way back yesterday and one of the bows on the soft top was hitting the fire extinguisher and preventing the top from going all the way back 🤦‍♂️.

So I ordered a new aluminum quick release mount off Amazon and mounted the fire extinguisher to the tailgate table. And yes, I did confirm that the bottom of the extinguisher wasn't hitting the tail gate when the table is folded down.

Finally got to use the top hoist I built, our JTops Bimini is arriving today so I figured it's a good time to completely remove the top.

Receive our new JTops Bimini yesterday.

While I waited for the velcro to cure I decided to cut the top up and have it modified a little. Since we prefer to run open air in the Spring & Fall I didn't want to have to keep removing the soft top latch brackets every time we wanted to remove the bimini, so we cut it and made a flap around the latch plate that fastens with a velcro tab.
