Hey everyone, what are some good antenna choices out there for my 25. Bought “the stubby” from Amazon but it seems to be getting horrible reception thanks

Yeah stubbys tend to get bad reception. I mostly Spotify so I don’t really need the antenna. So I stuck a cheap stubby from autozone on there. The adapters suck so I am pretty sure it is cross threaded and that sucker is never coming off. Works well enough for NPR out here in the sticks.

Every stubby I've seen is just a short piece of aluminum without any attempt to increase the electrical length by using a coil. Ignore claims that they make, aluminum is aluminum. Doesn't make any difference where it's from or how they make it look.

A flexible stubby antenna, sometimes called a rubber ducky by hams, might be worth trying. It will probably have a coil in it. I've been looking for one.

The stubby is for the look, not for good reception. I only listen to Sirius/XM so I dont need the antenna

Why not go for a whip tied down at rear for dramatic look!

Looking on Amazon, there seems to be a number of stubby antennas listed and some have a huge number of positive reviews, some may be fake, but some seem like the real deal. Maybe someone here has tried one of them ... the RYDONAIR Short Antenna is one of them.

I dropped the factory antenna as it interfered with getting into parking garages. Went with the stubby antenna below.

Don’t use it much. Primarily listen to XM sirius or Amazon music.

Works OK for local a.m. and FM stations. Definitely not as good as the factory antenna though.

Overall, I like the way it looks, and it does not scrape when I go into my office parking garage.

Oddly, the parking garage is the sole reason why I’ve kept mine, using it as a measuring stick to not scrape the top of the car in some of these low garages in my area, especially those with plumbing pipes exposed on the ceiling. I know where on the antenna the roof line is. Has saved me a couple of times from hitting pipes.

Even with the Shorty antenna, sometimes I can’t get stations that I want ( AM/FM ).

while I personally hate workarounds. Workaround do sometimes help you achieve what you’re looking for.

If you really want to listen to a.m. and FM without an antenna. You can use CarPlay and a streaming app such as Audicy to stream AM and FM content.

Not all radio stations are part of this network, but there are enough to fill my need for over the air content.

On a plus side, you also can listen to radio stations that are not in your local area. Sometimes that’s interesting too.

Old fart here & still listen to FM every day...tried stubby antenna on a few vehicles - they are all show & impact reception. I don't even bother considering anything over stock. Your $$$ so maybe try & read return policies.

I think there's a 50-cal one for sale in the Marketplace, if you want to check.

I also have the 13" flexible stubby, but have found that it basically gets NO reception. Don't count on getting much with a replacement. More and more people are opting for Sirius/XM, a Streaming service or just having MP3s on a flash drive. The good news is that you can easily screw the original back on for a road trip to regain the reception. I keep mine in the back under the carpet - just in case.
