Nike Free Run Flyknits. Very comfy, thin, and form fitting. Good pedal control and makes me feel like a race car driver.

People hate on em but they’re the perfect shoe for having around camp and slipping on and off really quick.
My buddy wore crocs the entire Moab trip.

I wear skechers hiking shoes. Regular shoes I guess. I'll pack sandals if we're heading to water.

Here’s the thing: anything works driving (although barefoot is both gross and potentially dangerous), but the important thing is having a shoe that you can get out and walk the trail in. And maybe it’s a STEEP trail. I’ve had Utah trails where I’ve had to walk/climb some very steep, slippery sections down and back, hundreds of yards sometimes, to see whether it’s okay to proceed.

Flip flops or crocs are not going to cut it in those scenarios. If you’re wheeling you might also be climbing or hiking, not to mention changing a tire or doing a rescue if you get unlucky. It might be muddy or slippery. Wear some real shoes people. There’s some great ultra light hiking boots out there.

Hoka Trail Code boots or shoes depending on season and I keep a pair of rubber over boots in the back just it case…

Either Vans MTE sk8-hi's if I'm mostly crusin but may want some waterproof & traction in a comfy sneaker, or Altra Timp Hiker GTX's if I'll be doing a good bit of hiking as well.
