Well, I for one would be very interested in a hybrid Bronco option IF:
  • they get the styling right
  • it’s still capable off-road
  • there is a real fuel economy and/or torque gain
  • the window sticker doesn’t break the bank

I do almost entirely city driving and currently getting 12mpg in my daily FE on 37’s at $4.00 - $5.00 per gallon sucks. Even getting 25mpg city would be a huge improvement!

for those saying hybrid savings isn’t worth the expense, that’s true if you are talking about upgrading to a new car for the sole purpose of saving $ at the pump, but if you are already in need of or on the market for a new vehicle why would you not consider the option?

Do I also wish for a Bronco V8 option? OF COURSE I DO! But I’m also happy with this announcement IF they find a way to get it right.

TL/DR: more options & better fuel economy are good things
A hybrd supplemented ICE that operates as low end torque and throttle booster with light throttle primary is as good or better than V8 power delivery...of course they better get the synthesized V8 burble right.

We are so far behind ROW its comical ...I can get a 700-900 HP AWD equivalent EV in with Maybach grade interior many countries now with 5 min recharge to 600 miles for under USD 60K. Legacy car incl EV have collapsed in major open global markets.....can't compete.

Thanks to protectionisim, I have to wait seven months for a warranty turbo on an issue that affects hundreds of thousands of F150 and Bronco 2.7, and suddenly, the defect on expensive vehicles, is "Normal" LOL. You know Ford is teetering when the toss reputation and customer loyalty in the garbage to save money.

Hopefuly Hybrd Bronco doesnt get heavier than its current obese 5000+ lb for a relatively small vehichle. Ford will probably put a 3cyl in it.

Comparing the f150 powerboost to the 2.7 is apples and oranges. The f150 is set up for capability, not efficiency. It can do things the gas f150 can not do.

430hp and 570ftlb, it should be compared to the mileage of the 5.0 or the 3.5 HO.
The comparison was a direct response to the previous post. “Look at Ford's own hybrid F-150. Markedly improved fuel economy over the gas version.”
Using the 2.7 for this comparison since it gets the best mpg of the f150 ice power plants only makes sense as the comparison was for mpg purposes not power levels.

If we talk power levels we know any of the electric and hybrid options loose out big in range when using the high power as in hauling. If you need that big power for hauling you want range also and diesel is king of that for auto’s.

how about a diesel hybrid?? although even that would be too many moving parts.... but I think it would perform for towing and off road......

That’s actually incorrect, we outsourced our capabilities because of our Cheapness/greed, we want everything cheaper than it should be using wages so low it’s unethical.
But this is not a political forum so that’s all I have to say about that.

This is the right move by Ford. Sounds like a lot of the naysayers here don't even understand the concept of hybrid. If you don't like the hybrid option, don't buy it. Nobody is going to be forced to buy a hybrid Bronco after all but it's an option that will resonate with the masses as hybrids have surpassed BEV's in popularity and are on the upswing. What are people here upset with Farley about exactly? That he's not introducing a low volume V8 model or more manual transmissions that consumers don't buy? Ford is in business to make money and sell vehicles, not cater to niche interests.

Which company is phasing out hybrids? Every single one is embracing and expanding their hybrid and EV offerings.
Jeep 4XE comes to mind.

2 door already has a small gas tank due to weight and space limitations, maybe offer in a 4 door by cutting gas tank size and sticking a small battery somewhere (under the rear seat like Jeep 4XE)? Raptor gonna be HEAVY! What's it going to have 20-30 miles of battery range?

I’d love to be able to power my house with a power boost Bronco.

Also, the Maverick hybrid seems to be good. My dad had one and loved it. Why’s everyone so mad about a Bronco hybrid?

Looks like they are embracing EV and hybrids.

  • Stellantis said the move was the result of shifting customer demand, and the company plans to turn its attention to "hybrid and range‑extended vehicles."
  • The move to eliminate traditional PHEV models comes as Jeep and Ram gear up to launch a range-extender PHEV powertrain, where the engine acts as a generator, and the wheels are powered solely by electric motors.

On our sister site 4runner6g, there is about a 28 page thread on real world mpg reports.
you said they aren’t selling well, right? That’s factually untrue. Additionally doesn’t the Iforce add power while also improving mpg?

I'm more interested in how they were only going 37 mph @ 3900 rpms. Were they standing on the brake also?
the T-Case was in 4L

Ahem... I happen to like my niche interest. Don't you dare take my manual transmission away from me.

But no, this makes sense. I am curious if Farley was talking about the Bronco specifically, or more the wider "Bronco brand". Whenever we see press releases it's usually in regards to the wider Bronco brand, but obviously this wasn't filtered through the media team, so who knows. I guess time will tell.

Sounds like a setup for a “I got ya”.

I said “Toyotas hybrid 4Runner, Land Cruiser has not been well liked based on sales from what I have seen.”
This is my opinion based on my observation and expectations pre release and post release.

I agree a lot of other factors contribute as well.
