Yea, I guess my point, if I actually have one, is that in America we love our EV's as long as they come with an ICE engine.

I think in 10 years we'll be looking back and saying, "Did they really think it was good idea to put both an electric motor AND a gas engine in a vehicle".

Seems like the worst of both worlds to me. All the complexity and weight of this so I can go 25 miles on battery before the gas motor takes over?

I guess we've gotten away from the "I'm saving the planet, to I have a sh*t ton of torque and can blast away from a stop sign in 1 sec and power my Dometic cooler".

Seems like a lot of fuss for nothing to me.
2009 Lexus RX450H 3.5L + Hybrd was and is an outstanding hybrd executed perfectly.

All Ford has to do is copy this proven 16 year old proven approach without losing another $18 billion LOL.

I for one welcome any 400+ ft.lb of instant green light torque in AWD.

Ford already makes a hybrid Ranger for Australia. The basics of the power train layout are similar enough that adding the same hybrid system to the Bronco shouldn’t be that challenging.

I have a Hummer EV and my Braptor in the driveway now. The Hummer EV is an amazing and refined machine compared to the Bronco. And fast as all get out. I would welcome a Bronco EV. The speed and instant torque is just something you can’t replicate with ICE. And it was nice not having to go to a gas station in the past year !

but otherwise yeah, why the heck don’t we have a V8 Braptor at least….

What are you looking for that the gasser doesn't offer?

My only Hybrid experience is driving my daughter's CRV a couple of times. She dumped it pretty quickly for a full gasser 4-Runner. CRV seemed fine, pretty much like driving a regular one so I wasn't sure why I would pick one over the gas only model.
a daily trip to the gym and back without using any gas. Low speed, short range, electric only drives for those little trips that eat my gas away

Not to be a smart ass, but if you can't drive a V6 in muddy water without killing the alternator, I'm not sure I'd want to subject a "hybrid" to the Bronco life....

We would buy a 2dr version said that two years ago as a DD for my wife. She is just out of mileage range for some of the current options we like, need about 65 miles for work commute. Also we live 5 miles out of town so back and forth would be a win. Super close to buying a Maverick, but the way it works and living in hilly land would not give us true electric mode 100% of the time.

Seems like someone is tone deaf to the Bronco market, the electric for Ford has failed miserably in profits already.
Toyotas hybrid 4Runner, Land Cruiser has not been well liked based on sales from what I have seen.
Maybe the Jim Farley critics have been correct all along about this guy being full of bad decisions. Seems like a dumb move. The Bronco sport, now that screams hybrid.
I like the auxiliary power options this will likely bring to the Bronco. Maybe no more need to run an extra lithium battery for your fridge and accessories.
If it comes with a built in solar charger input, I'm in!

Hybrids are not electric and they are not EVs. You don't charge them and they run on 100% dead dinosaurs and whatever else is in that amazing black stuff. The "hybrid" part is a means to capture some of the otherwise waisted breaking energy. Hybrids like the Ford system is an ingenious design and the transmission is less complicated than traditional automatics (like the Ford 10 speed). It has a planetary gearset but no clutches and bands, and from what I've heard is simple and reliable. The batteries are tiny compared to a EV, and so is the replacement cost. It is ridiculous to lump hybrids with EVs, and both Ford and Toyota have been quite successful with them. I would be all for a hybrid Bronco if the city MPG is around 25 instead of 17, and if they go normally aspirated another plus. The Bronco market is bigger than this website, and the people at Ford have to be concerned with 5 and 10 years down the road, not what a few keyboard warriors are saying on a website. Ford seems to be doing pretty well. Want to see bad decisions check out Jaguar.

I am constantly surprised when people talk about tech that has been on the road for more than a generation as new and unreliable. Not building hybrids at this point is weird

Pretty sure I laid eyes on two out of China, they were plugged in at a place in Moorea, French Polynesia... Their advertising said, "Rent and EV".

Just a heads up, the Toyota hybrid used in the current suv&trucks called I-force Max is electric. It’s an electric motor built into the front of the transmission with a clutch that allows it to assist and add more power directly at the crank shaft.
It uses a big battery, much smaller than a full electric but large enough it does not fit under the hood and is stored in the rear.
It’s not the old regeneration capture style you refer to.
The Ford f150 hybrid is similar concept, electric motor boots power at the gearbox, uses a big battery hidden in the rear.
It’s a cool system but does not add much to mpg, only enough to help them with cafe standards.

That hybrid design doesn't work well with rock crawling, unfortunately. At least in the way it's been implemented in other vehicles.

I'm sure there is a way to get around that, maybe pairing it with an automated two speed transmission or a crazy deep transfer case, idk.

What are they going to make hybrid an option that isn't already? Bronco, Bronco Sport, Ranger? They took away the vehicles (Escape, Edge) where traditional hybrid made sense and would've had a higher take rate (Maverick excluded), F150 hybrid, at least for us has been a turd and plagued with problems.
Baby Bronco replaces the much hated 3rd/4th gen Escape in the lineup. They Hybrid Escape was pretty decent, as long as you could stand the looks and stance.

Hybrid or PHEV Baby Bronco fills a market niche.

Ford CEO Jim Farley Confirms That a Bronco Hybrid Is Coming

The news comes as part of a larger plan from Ford to hybridize every model in its lineup. "We really want to bet on all of it," said Farley. "We're going to have an all-hybrid lineup. So, Bronco, everything you can buy at Ford will have a hybrid. We'll also have [extended-range EVs] for towing."

Other auto companies are phasing out "hybrids"....
What we need is a V8!

Gas/electric Hybrid is a good way to go, you can go grocery shopping on electric, but you have range for long trips, PLUS you can power the house. I loved my PowerBoost, and clearly, it was more popular than the Lightning.

The only thing that would be better is a flexfuel or Diesel hybrid.

But in California, they are preparing an electric car tax, so they will get you one way or another.
