I DID read it all. Hence the 'somewhat relevant' comment.

An EV has a greater risk of being a yard ornament though. But this is ALSO why four of my six vehicles are older than 20 years in age- I can still work on them and they don't rely on software updates.

And yes, one of them is at risk of being orphaned because it is a company I've seen leave the US previously in my lifetime.
I guess my point is that the "software updates" are necessary for everything built in the last 10 years... Look at the number of "modules" in the Bronco....

Read it all... That complaint (and a whole bunch of others) are about Electric and ICE.... even 40 and 50 year old cars. They are valid complaints but have NOTHING to do with which type of energy they are using for propulsion... generalized it is about the lack of support for vehicles by the auto manufacturers or their suppliers. Very valid and needs to be considered during any purchase.

Yes, from a pure "engineering" and "technical" perspective yes, but in practice there is no separation - nothing in the market that separates the two. This means for the consumer it is a distinction without a difference.

For example, the consumer is not offered an electric energy energy vehicle that does not also include disappearing door handles that are real safety concerns, or screens, screens, and more screens (and the attendant disappearing buttons), software and code that is far too large and far too buggy, etc.

Now, there has recently been a few good signs. Certain European companies are putting buttons back in for HVAC and other basic functions, China is outright banning electric door handles, "steering yokes", and other fads that are outright safety hazards....

Buuttttt, that's the problem with "progress", "the future", etc. It is not in fact always better and can even be significantly worse. ICE is "good enough" for the vast majority of consumers - heck, it is better then good enough. Electrification of modern cars is not "natural" or "progressive", it is forced from the outside and this has consequences, many of which are outright negatives in any reasonable evaluation.

If that's the new face..... man, I don't know. Maybe a bit to futuristic and Transformer to me.

Guess I'm torn, as the AI models that are updated versions of the old truck, just more curvy look a bit dialed in.

Hybrid as an option is good at least. Just not sure I trust a hybrid out in the woods or desert once a rock gets knocked up in there, or mud, or somewhat deep water. I assume these concerns are addressed, but I just don't know, but have these as concerns.

Anyway, always good to see competition to squeeze these out of control off-roader prices and the over hipsterfication of trucks of all type these days. 😒
