Didn’t think to get a picture while it was opened but….

I was having some rattling coming from the Subwoofer on my ‘25 Base Bronco caused by the top bolt being loose. I had already tightened the bolt before but it apparently wiggled loose again so I was going in and did one turn too much and cracked the top housing around the bolt… I’m still under warranty so I could just drop it off at my local dealership and have them replace it but I’m really not trying to not have my truck for a couple days while they wait for parts.

Any suggestions on how to manage this? I’m almost wondering if I should call the dealership and tell them what’s wrong and see if they can take a quick look, order the parts, and send me on my way until it gets in then schedule a time to bring it in and have it fixed while I wait since it shouldn’t be a long job. Any thoughts?

I think they will work with a scheduled look knowing you are driving it away.

That's what I did with my door latch. Dealer looked at it, didn't have parts, ordered parts. I drove it home. They ordered part two weeks ago, they will install it in a couple of days.

The only time they should keep your Bronce while waiting for parts would be if it wasn't driveable because they have it torn apart. Now I know some on here seem to consider a Bronco without sound isn't driveable, hope you're not one of them.

Do not mention that you touched anything no warranty just say it's cracked. Better to get tailgate sub and put mtx amp rack and amp in that spot...

For sure. My dealership has always been really good to me but don’t want to give them any reason at all to deny it under warranty!

If you wanted to fix it, it’s just plastic. Not hard to throw a couple of plastic welding staples at it and either heat meld or glue/epoxy on it

Thought about doing something like this. If I was out of warranty it would be no question to do this but I would rather have a dealership do it for now just so it get's an appropriate fix (hopefully).

The bolt on top goes into a clip that rattles too. I put some rubber tape right above the clip and used a larger washer on the bolt. It seems much better.

That is a thicker rubber tape than electrical tape. I also put some of the thicker rubber tape between the green connector and the Sub housing. Seems another point of possible rattle.

I just wrapped my entire Bronco in 10 mil tape to prevent rattles, seems to be working ok.

The sub enclosure sounds much better wrapped in a dampening like Kilmat. I cut foam rubber for the bolts.
