What we were told was water and fire damage and gvmt shutdown slowing repairs.
Our rich mountain road run was cut short due to bear attacks this morning.
Just a point of clarification on the "bear attack". There wasn't. There were 2 separate, unrelated incidents that lead to Cades Cove entrance being shut down.Bear attacks??
These bears must be Jeep guys.... figures.![]()
The one referred to as a "bear attack" wasn't. The bear was exhibiting human conditioned behavior from visitor's baiting the bear with food. It was tranquilized, carried out of the brambles, put in the bear trap, and then relocated. It is now tagged, collared, and had a tooth removed. It is the first "strike" for the bear. Hopefully, it stays away from humans in the future. Second strike is euthanasia. Remember folks, a fed bear is a dead bear. Selfish visitors and their actions have impacted this bear.
The other incident was an accident between a vehicle and a bicyclist. The bicyclist was injured and required medical evac.
