I would agree that I don’t think they will be fixing these. Like previously mentioned I’m sure there will be some type of inspection, and if failed, will be replaced.Maybe I’m more optimistic than I should be. Since it is focused on delamination and not cracking, I can’t see any other repair but replacement. They wouldn’t spend the time to cut out, sand down, patch etc if delamination is present, replacement is the only true solution.
Hopefully we will know something more sooner than the November date the letter mentioned.
***Overlooked that it did in fact mentioned cracking. Still I can’t see a cap or any other filler being used as a reasonable repair. It needs to be replacement.***
The “friend” doesn’t have time for this nonsense, and he probably doesn’t want to see Ford’s attorney in a deposition, either.By the way, what is there to stop someone with a bad MIC top who's warranty has run out from swapping MIC tops with a friend who still has a good one and warranty and putting in a claim for a new one? Any serial numbers or stickers that would prevent this? Ford Lawyers must have predicted this.
I mean you could realistically do this with any part if you really wanted to risk it.By the way, what is there to stop someone with a bad MIC top who's warranty has run out from swapping MIC tops with a friend who still has a good one and warranty and putting in a claim for a new one? Easy there Socrates."Speak only of what you know about or appear foolish."
Ford did the something similar with their F-150 panoramic roof. Only severe cases, like the glass breaking and flying down the road behind you were recalled. The rest of the issues with their disastrous design were ignored.Maybe this is Fords solution to handle the MIC top problem post warranty period. You get a top only after dangerous catastrophic failure. As time goes by and more of these develop Ford will add model years covered. Small cracks and snake skin will be written off as age related wear.
No doubt. With this recall, I'd think it would be very hard to win a class action suit raised by folks with later model years and basically having similar failures.Feels like the likelihood that this recall gets expanded to other years is going to be 100%
My '21 model year was delivered Jan '22, it's included. It didn't show on the app, but it does on the Ford support link that Ducati1098 posted. Try looking there. My truck was delivered on Dec 29, 2021. I do not have a recall noted with my VIN. Some minor issues with my top. I hope it gets included.
