How tall is the hitch on a standard Bronco - Non Sasquatch? Any tips for towing a light trailer?

Hi - I have a Big Bend on order - hoping comes in a coupla weeks. Getting ready to tow a light (400lb) aluminum trailer with a 300lb dual sport motorcycle (WR250R). I'm going to mount the wheel chock in the front center of the trailer. The trailer is just 4.5' x 8'.
Curious about the height of the hitch - I've seen people post 14" and 18". My Suburban hitch mount is about 22". The new trailer doesn't match well with the Suburban and my minimal-drop hitch bar / ball mount. I think 18" would be about perfect.

Extra info: I'm posting the photo of my rig from the Ford order page, and also a stock image of the trailer. I ordered it with the Tow Package. As an fyi, I'm removing that rear ramp to cut down on wind resistance, and will use a folding ramp to load the bike. At some point, I'm planning to buy 2 more wheel chocks so I can take my wife's bike too - a KTM 390 Adv. I doubt I'd ever take 3 bikes, to it would either be one in the center, or two, leaving the center chock empty. The guy at the trailer place suggested I mount one in front and the other one set back a bit. So I'd plan to mount the center one up front, and the one on the left up front too, and then have the one on the right / passenger side set back a bit. This would help balance the weight over the axle - I'll check it all before mounting the chocks, and it would allow the two bikes to be mounted closer to the center (left/right), with the handlebars overlapping a bit.
I've towed a race car around before so I don't need any basic towing tips, but I'm more curious if there's anything I should be thinking about with a total trailer weight of only about 700 pounds.

You'll have no issue towing 700lb. Biggest concern IMO would be tongue weight...I do believe 300lb is the Bronco max tongue weight across all models.

Most trailers of this style are pretty flat with the top of the ball at 18" from the ground. But you can get really accurate if you load the trailer with all your stuff then level the trailer on level ground and measure to the top of the ball socket and calculate your hitch from there.

Sounds good - it's pretty much 18" unloaded - I have the trailer in my garage right now. Curious about how that will match up to the truck I ordered, expected in a couple weeks or so...

I just measured my hitch and it's ~19" vertically to the center of the hitch (18 1/8" to lower edge, 20 1/4" to the upper edge).

For reference, I have a 2022 OBX (non-sas) on 33" tires (275/70R18) with a Curt Hitch. Hopefully that helps.

yes! That's helpful. Do you know if that Curtis Hitch sits about the same height as the Ford option hitch?
I'll be on stock sneakers for a while: "LT265/70R17 All-Terrain (A/T) (32”) Tires"

I would be surprised if there was any meaningful difference in height between the two. They both use the same factory mounting points. The top edge of the 2" square sits just slightly below the underside of the crossmember that it's bolted to.

I'm betting you'll be right at 18.5 - 19 inches. Basing this only on gut feeling and the fact that my WildTrak hitch sits at about 21. I'm thinking the difference will be about 2.5 or so due to the small lift and larger tires on the WT.

Usually the issue is getting the trailer hitch on underneath the spare tire.

Either pull the spare and throw it in the back, or on the trailer… or invest in a drop hitch. 2.5-3” is about right

I just towed for the first time with my 2 door Big Bend non sasquatch. I have an aluminum motorcycle trailer very similar looking to yours. I also have a variety of ball drops. I had bought an extender bar for use with a bike rack to clear the spare tire and used this with a 2" drop insert (even loaded with my gold wing my trailer has 84 lbs of tongue weight so I was comfortable not doing any math with the extender for the light load I was hauling). With the 2" drop the rake on the trailer seemed very similar to what is in your picture with your trailer...

One thing I would caution - the Bronco is pretty smart knowing the trailer is hooked up. When it is it will give you a message telling you that it is disabling the sensors for blind spot assistance in your sideview mirrors (can't remember the precise wording of what pops up in the instrument cluster). Pay attention to that as those little LEDs in the mirrors not longer tell you someone is next to you with a trailer hooked up. I usually blow thru the messages but if I hadn't it would of saved me a somewhat close call with a guy next to me while towing.

You answered my issue . Getting the trailer hitch on under the spare has caused a lot of issues thanks

We use the B&W receivers. They are adjustable to height. We tow 5 or 6 different trailers with our F250, F150 and F150 Raptor. We will start using the new Bronco we just purchased also.
