How tall is the hitch on a standard Bronco - Non Sasquatch? Any tips for towing a light trailer?
Hi - I have a Big Bend on order - hoping comes in a coupla weeks. Getting ready to tow a light (400lb) aluminum trailer with a 300lb dual sport motorcycle (WR250R). I'm going to mount the wheel chock in the front center of the trailer. The trailer is just 4.5' x 8'.
Curious about the height of the hitch - I've seen people post 14" and 18". My Suburban hitch mount is about 22". The new trailer doesn't match well with the Suburban and my minimal-drop hitch bar / ball mount. I think 18" would be about perfect.
Extra info: I'm posting the photo of my rig from the Ford order page, and also a stock image of the trailer. I ordered it with the Tow Package. As an fyi, I'm removing that rear ramp to cut down on wind resistance, and will use a folding ramp to load the bike. At some point, I'm planning to buy 2 more wheel chocks so I can take my wife's bike too - a KTM 390 Adv. I doubt I'd ever take 3 bikes, to it would either be one in the center, or two, leaving the center chock empty. The guy at the trailer place suggested I mount one in front and the other one set back a bit. So I'd plan to mount the center one up front, and the one on the left up front too, and then have the one on the right / passenger side set back a bit. This would help balance the weight over the axle - I'll check it all before mounting the chocks, and it would allow the two bikes to be mounted closer to the center (left/right), with the handlebars overlapping a bit.
I've towed a race car around before so I don't need any basic towing tips, but I'm more curious if there's anything I should be thinking about with a total trailer weight of only about 700 pounds.
