thoughts on removing armor on front corners / rear: put on at dealer 3 years ago -

looking at a used bronco wildtrack and unfortunatley the only con on it at least for me are the body armor panels on the front corners, and the ones one the rear tail lights. I dont mind the hood panel. these have been on since the vehicle was originally sold in 2023...i dont know if this vehicle was garaged or not... either way if i decided to take them off would there be a huge difference in color as the paint underneath those panels havent been hit by the sun? DO you think 3 years is enough to cause the paint to be that much different>? ive search the forums, and cant really find an answer or seen examples of people removing them after a couple of years - dont want to have a multi colored wildtrack! would a detailer be able to do anything to make it look more blended since the paint under the armor would obviously be un touched by the sun>?

thats the actual vehicle below - its the cactus color has abouit 17k miles on it

Not sure about these specifically but I know some kinds of plastic cladding tend to scuff the paint underneath.

My opinion, I don’t think you would see a difference in paint, especially on that color. I highly doubt it looks any different underneath. As Smocaine stated, there could be some scuffing under but I doubt it, that tape adds a bit of clearance, if it is a bit scuffed a quick polishing compound would most likely take care of any scuffing.

Hair dryer & gently pull it off, should be fine IMO.

I guess I'd be interested to see. @broadicustomworks might have a clue. If it were me, I'd put some pink D shackles on those front tow mounts and NOBODY would even notice a little paint fade... lol

pink? nahhh ... neon purple is the way! if i do end up getting this bronco - i will take these 3 year old armor plates off and document with pics in case someone is in the same boat as me.

Worst case is you can always put some back on if you see a sun bleaching that cannot be remedied by some paint correction (buffing of the bleached parts).
Red is notorious for that exact issue and I can tell you there was some minimal difference in mine when I stripped some vinyl off that had been there for 4.5 years. Never garaged, always in the elements.
Cactus and Iconic Silver should fare a lot better.
