Ford offering Navigation after trial - is it worth it?

I never specced navigation to begin with, and having had it in a couple loaners, I think that was the right call.
The Android Auto/Google Maps implementation is very nice, and seems to do just about anything the built-in nav can do, including pop directions up in the instrument cluster on '25+ models.

My '24 has Android Auto naigation integration with the instrument cluster too.

No it won’t affect remote start or location. Only the nav

Google Maps works well enough for me. Good alerts to speed traps etc. The Ford nav does have the little speed limit icon that is useful. I wonder (out loud) if when using the Ford navigation with cruise control on if the speed is adjusted in different speed zones? That might entice me to re-up. I've never tried it to see.

It doesn’t alert if you’re going faster than the speed limit. That’s where my Cobra steps in.

For me, NO. I didn’t want something that relies on the AT&T cell network and a subscription at that. Wanted true GPS so just brought a small garmin.

Also, the only thing you lose without the paid subscription is:
• live traffic patterns
• yelp reviews
• use of weather radar with live feed

Everything else, with the Nav, such as directions (including 4x4 road options) are still available, without paying.

These and On-x.
At least two are running all the time.
Usually google and waze on road.
Sygic is a favorite.
iExit follows you and tells you all about everything at the next(or any) freeway exit. Gas, food, world's second largest frying pan...
There's an android app that shows you live traffic cams. You can set it for the next cam or by distance. It follows you and shows you the cameras live. We live 45 miles from the nearest stoplight... so i dont use it.
Weather?
Windy app.
Radar weather?
RadarNow or zoom earth.

Google live, google downloaded android satellite view, and on-x and a paper gazetteer when we're offroad.
When we're REALLY offroading: old to ancient usgs maps are added. Some towns were only towns for a few years and only show on a single usgs map.

One is none.
We have dedicated $10 yardsale phones that live in each vehicle for maps and travel stuff.
We dont need our own phones as nav aids except as redundancy.

I don't think any of the lost paid features are worth it.
Live traffic? Who cares? Youre gonna be living it for a few hours.

I use google maps as does the uber and lyft drivers and the very poor roiting and address accuracy is shocking in 2026 not sure if its the poor sat accuracy or Googles sloppy work, so I just use it to know the road programming and route myself and tell drivers howntobgwt to destiation in quickest time since most are from 4th world and dont even look at building numbers LOL

So many times we have drivers, delivery people, etc. drive a block down the street because Google tells them our house is in the wrong place. The smart ones see the house numbers and figure it out. The dumb/lazy ones deliver packages to someone else's house.

Apple maps try to send people through my driveway gate.
I have to reroute them.
Apple doesn't reroute them if they don't go a half mile back to a corner.

I re-upped on the Nav because we had to rely on it a few times to find gas stations and other destinations on long road trips when we lost cell signal on our phones and Google Maps wasn’t searchable. We’ll keep it active as backup nav.
