Hi! Finally got my 2 door after a year and a half wait and boy do I love it...

Wondering if anyone has a solution for the wind noise that I am attributing to the luggage rack.... not horrible, but certainly noticable!

  • Considering removing the factory rack for everyday use
  • Wondering if anyone has done this and results
  • Also wondering if anyone with a 2 door and factory luggage rack know where Ford might have placed the covers that go on the top of the Windshield to cover the luggage rack mounts if you didn't have the rack?
Thanks in advance!

I have the excessive wind noise too. My caps were in the glove box in a plastic bag.

Maybe just remove the forward crossbar. I move mine from the front position (for the kayak) to the rear, noise is definitely worse in the forward position. Next time I have it off, I may leave it off for a while as a test.

Thanks! I found mine in a small plastic bag under the passenger seat! All set now!

Thanks! I will try removing the front crossmember and see what happens.... At least if it provides some improvement, I would know I am on the right path!

I removed mine and didn't notice a big difference. Put it back on, except for front crossbar. My noise seems to be coming from the front of the back windows.

The Ford Escape used a more rearward crossbar location for the front crossbar for lower noise when not in use. A wind deflector in the front may help. Also, some claim wrapping everything in paracord helps. Lol

Welcome to the world of roof racks - noise is the price paid.
I expect significant wind noise from the GOBI setup when it arrives, maybe even a mpg decrement.
