My opinion .... 33's are the optimum size for the 4.46 geared manuals.

The 3.73 autos may be a different animal though.

I went with a 35x11.5-17 and discovered they are just a bit too much tire for the 4.46/manual.
My top gear is useless now, as it requires the motor to stay in boost to maintain speed, even at 78/80mph. The result is a HUGE hit to fuel mileage.
HOWEVER, using 5th at those speeds brings the rpm's to around 2700 and the motor is very happy in that range and rewards you with better fuel mileage.

The point is, with your auto, keep an eye on boost and rpm's, you may want to manually shift down a gear or two to get the sweet spot once you get the taller tires.

For whatever it's worth ... I LOVE those Badlands takeoffs everybody is posting!!!

Here's my stance and poke :
Method 703's, 17 x 8.5 +35mm
35 x 11.5 - 17 Toyo (34.6")
no lift, no rub on the street ... no crash bars.
