I have a 22 Bronco 2-door that has a dealer-installed Receiver hitch and four-pin power. That's been perfect for what I need to date. I need to start hauling a small 7x12 single-axle enclosed trailer with a GVWR of 3500#.

So I'm looking for what I need to do with my Bronco to get a brake controller on it.
I know I need a controller.
I know I need a 7-pin trailer connector.

It seems that this is the controller to get from Redarc, their Trail Kit, because Ford discontinued their kit.

But I also need to install the 7-pin connector. Is there a kit I should be looking at for that?

I'm very busy these days. If I were going to have someone install this and get it set up, who would I look to? I'm dubious about using the dealer. Redarc shows their installers at local RV shops. I'm not sure that's where I want to go. Suggestions?

The official Ford kit is here:

https://www.ford.com/product/trailer-hitch-wiring-harness-4-7-pin-by-lumen-p2971214188

The kit is essentially the closest thing you can get to factory-like install, and it integrates with all of the electronics. If the dealer already installed the the official hitch assembly, it should also be 100% compatible with that, so no need for a new hitch.

For 2021-2023, the wiring kit is honestly kind of a pain to install, so if you have a nearby dealer to do the install it probably makes sense. It would also effectively render the 4-pin kit you already have useless, so you'll (or the installer) would have to remove it.

Before you buy everything, I would also take a peak under your steering wheel and see if the factory trailer brake controller connector is there. I know for sure it's there if you ordered the trailer tow package from the factory, but not sure if it's standard for all Broncos or not. Checkout the video below around the 8:40 mark... I point out the connector for the trailer brake controller.

There are also a variety of aftermarket 7-pin kits that would work and honestly would probably be cheaper. But how they wire into the vehicle, and how they integrate with the trailer brake controller wiring will all vary.
