I’m surprised how few people my daughters’ age even know how to maintain their mountain bikes. Anything electronic and they’re wizards - anything with the risk of getting some grime under your fingernails - not so much.

In their defence, as they move through their 20s and get out from their moms’ and dads’ nests they are quickly learning the value of money, and how easy it is to save $$$ over time doing your own maintenance. My daughters are getting good on basic maintenance on both their cars and their autos. They’ve even showed their boyfriends a few things, including teaching them to drive manual.

With our protectionist society I figure many young ‘uns simply didn’t learn the way we did - by crashing, falling, breaking things - all the things where you don’t forget the hard lessons learned.

bit o/t - apologies to the OP
My son has become quite a good diy maintenance guy. He usually calls me for advice or comes over to do anything major and you tube is our friend on newer higher tech stuff.

Youtube has become my maintenance manual for the most part!

That's a cast iron exhaust manifold. Read my post again and what I said about unpainted cast iron.
I read it...so?

it still looks rusty ...BMW sucks too..

and if you read the post in the photo..he says he has rust around the differential too..so it’s not just exhaust manifold ..BMW sucks they need to use stainless..cheap bastards

yep. Now can we get to 8? 😁
Sure! Just keep beating a dead horse.
Someone needs to invent a non corrosive steel and cast iron.

I recommend this video by Ronnie Dahl on the damage caused by mud and how to prevent it…

I see a lot of people recommending Fluid Film. Strike Hold is another great product to prevent corrosion especially for electical components.

Thanks, I just looked it up and there is even a Strike Hold Marine version which I ordered. I'm going to try it on the drive shaft and CV axle...everything under the Bronco with exception of the exhaust.

MY23 built 2/6, shipped 2/9, picked up 3/2 from the dealer and it looks as bad as the original poster’s pictures. So these are coming from the factory this way.
