Hey guys and gals, when my OBX arrives one day (Lord Willing) then I am hoping to swap out the tires and wheels. I'm looking for some tips from those of you that have already gone down this road. As of now I don't plan on doing a lift so I've asked around what the largest tires I can put on a non lifted, non-sas, OBX and what has been recommended is 315's or 305's with either a +18mm or +12mm offset respectively. I like the Nitto Recon's but I'm open to other suggestions. Most of my driving will be on road.

So have any of y'all attempted this? If so how is the ride and how is MPG? Any tires you do or don't recommend? Any other tips you can provide?

EDIT: I also plan to remove the crash bars

I went with Nitto Ridge Grappler LT305/70R17 tire with a 17x9 with +12 ET wheel... sitting in my garage waiting to go on my OBX non-SAS. I do plan on doing just a fabtech leveling kit. ill likely remove the front crashbars and from my research the poke should be minimal, maybe an 1in

I have 315s on stock big bend. Had to remove crash bars. I will be doing 4 inch lift soon but they fit without crash bars. No rubbing. Did rub with crash bars. +12 offset

Thanks y'all that's helpful. Do you know if the suspension on the Big bend is the same as the OBX? How much poke did you get with that +12? I was thinking +18 so there wasn't a ton of poke. I'm good with an inch or two but not much beyond that. Any pictures?

I put 305 Toyo Open Country AT3 on my 21 Badlands. I’ve had 20 different tire types/ brands over the decades and these tires are top notch. Only regret is that I could have got 315’s. I was concerned about fitment but many others have found that 315’s (or “35s”) fit with no problem, especially with small front level lift.

That looks great! And that's currently without any lift, correct?

Just the 1” Zone front level, which is really only 0.75” since I didn’t add the 2nd spacer below the shock. But also, Badlands stock is slightly lifted vs OB, etc. Oh also, my wheels are 17x8 +25 KMC for “no poke” with the SAS flares I added.

I have 295/70/17’s on a stock non SAS OBX. Rims are badlands takeoffs. I believe 305/75/17’s or even 315/75/17’s would fit if you removed the crash bars ( I did). I wish I would have gone 305’s

Non Sasquatch OBX with 315/70/17 Wildpeaks on OEM Sasquatch wheels(+30 offset). Crash bars removed, no rubbing. No lift in these pics but I now have a 1.25" lift in front to level things out. MPG is about 17.5 with the 2.7L but I don't drive slow.

How is the Ride quality on those tires? :) Can you notice it over stock SAS tires?

I put 315/70/17 toyo open country’s on mine day 2 of ownership. Had to remove crash bars. Ride is great, gas mileage took a hit though. The picture is just to show the tires. This is after coilovers that resulted in a 3” lift. Once I find the picture of just the tires before all the rest I will post it

Ride quality is good. I put them on Day 2 so not much time to compare to stock BFGs. But I didn’t notice much difference. Truck rides very good.

haha....I just fiddled with my tire pressures today.....I was running 39 all around (cold). I lowered the fronts to 36 and rears to 34. It actually made a significant difference in ride quality on the road. smoother and less "jittery" over small bumps and dips. Gonna hold off on changing my stock Goodyears....For now....Haha
